The tragedy of some who look for a better life:

"Eric Metaxas, a best-selling Christian author, tweeted after the firing that Mr. O’Reilly’s ouster was “tremendously sad” and that his show had been a “blessing to millions.” When people responding to his tweet noted that he was silent on the harassment itself, he wrote “Jesus loves Bill O’Reilly” and told his followers to pray for their enemies."

What a dichotomy: "a blessing to millions" while harassing women. Oh boy! I enjoyed watching O'Reilly on occasion but you can't have it both ways Bill.

Well the technology isn't where it needs to be. You can get batteries that will store energy but they run $5k each and most homes would need 3 or 4 (and pray they don't crap out or burn your house down).

Once the changeover does happen what will happen to the country's electrical grid? Are the utility companies going to "allow" that to happen?

Fellow came by my house wanting to sell me electricity from his company but I told him I was already in contract until this coming October. He surprised me by saying that the electricity that he supplies all comes from renewable energy sources, so I look up his company: Star Energy Partners. Anyone ever heard of them or am I the last to be informed?

Do you have solar installed at your house?

I don't, but I live in the Northeast. We are not exactly known for never ending sunshine of places like El Paso with 300 days of sunshine. We aren't Seattle either (164 days) but pretty close with 200.

The future may very well be with solar but the present is not. The cost of panels has come down but until there is a cost acceptable way for energy storage it will continue to be a tease but isn't that the nature of "things in the future"? Life will be better in the future. Unfortunately you can't feed your family now from the future and the reality is that Solar energy, as it sits today, would disappear if not for taxpayer sponsored subsidies. If Trumps plans to free up coal now adds jobs that sounds like a good thing to me. If we can manage to sell coal to the chinese and fill those empty cargo ships on their return trips to China, well that sounds even better.
Do you have solar installed at your house? br br ... (show quote)

Agree, that it is not wise to close out an industry, coal or other, immediately. It must be phased out with time, like lead in gasoline, so the car industry can create car engines that do not ping without the lead.

Economics will eventually dictate when renewable energy sources dominate the scene.

No, I do not have solar panels installed on my house. Still not feasible for me to do at this time.

Even the Coal Museum is using solar energy. Only the Trumpeteers believe that coal will make a come back.
Ha! Funny indeed.

Why would anyone not understand that? Duh!

I cannot imagine why. I question whether even Trump thinks coal will return like it did. He was just interested in the votes, I think.

Sorry Trump, but the wave of the future is not the coal industry.

Open your eyes and use your mind, you are talking to a liberal, good advice but it will never be taken.

You are lost on liberal-lane, and that has you blind sighted and hood winked. I am talking to everyone not just a liberal. Why wast our time discussing such nonsense. It does neither America any good, nor does it make our image worldwide any better. We look stupid for doing such useless talk.

You would be correct if we had someone in the Whitehouse who had a clue.

You may be speaking too soon. We shall just have to wait and see. In 4 years we get to vote again, and lets hope that Hillary is not a choice again.

Yes. There is a radio talk-show host here in town who made that very point. It seems that conservatives have real trouble with anything that requires thinking in degrees of anything. Everything is black and white. He thought that was one of the political right's real problems and it is why the left seems to have so many artists, actors, general creative types and the right is stuck with those incapable of anything other than the "my way or the highway" thinking like Lyin' Trump and his ideologue worshipers. So if a person is smart and sees Lyin' Trump for the dangerous fool that he is, then these binary thinkers are incapable of realizing that person is just way smarter than they are and they have to assume that smart person is a Hillary/Obama supporter.

This is certainly not true of all republicans or conservatives as we just saw. Enough realized how stupid Trump is and were going to vote against the horrible AHCA that Lyin' Trump LOST. So where is all that WINNING we are going to get tired of??

Trump from the Dump is learning about the Separation of Powers our smart founders set up and slowly realizing he is not a CEO that can just order something done. It so much fun seeing him fail.

My senator's job is to make Trump's life miserable. In doing so he will make Ken Hubert's life miserable. A real win-win.

Spending our time making each other's candidates' lives "miserable," as you say, while Porky Pig sits in N. Korea planning to bomb us is not what I consider very smart. Is the only thing that will pull us all together, then, "war?" If so, Porky Pig in N. Korea will continue to take advantage of our infighting stupidity and eventually do us a favor, while we all breath in the radioactivity from Porky Pig's bombs. Sure, we can wipe him off the map, but is it worth it while acquiring lung and other cancers from nuclear materials?

You political opponent is not the problem. Open your eyes and use your mind.

Jesus knew that the motive of the moneychangers was to get rich off of the needs, or presumed needs, of the people.
So, I just wonder if Jesus would be proud of this restoration, presumed to be the tomb of Jesus, which cost more than 2.5 million dollars:

James, Christianity has always been based on evidence, not blind faith. The evidence is there, in fact the bible teaches us to be sceptics. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 but examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good. NASB. See, I even like the American version!

When I said that "Religion/faith is belief in the absence of evidence," I should have included the word empirical, in my statement, i.e., empirical evidence. Climate change/global warming is based on empirical evidence, and that is why climate change/global warming can be investigated scientifically.

There is no way to scientifically measure the existence of a God or to scientifically address the claim that a supernatural entity intervenes in the natural world. Sorry for the not clarifying that important point in the previous post.

Much of which has been manipulated. But I digress, your op was a discussion about religion and I interjected politics, my apology.

No apology needed. Also, in addition to that which has been "manipulated," very much of the empirical evidence supporting climate change/global warming has not been manipulated, and new evidence continues to be contributed by dedicated and honest science/scientists. This issue will take time to sort out the details.
