Yes folks, but it is actually the Camera Raw version that gives the RAW file support. If Lightroom is not handling the RAW files it just means updating the Camera Raw version. Camera Raw updates are free downloads from the Adobe website.

Will they continue updating and providing the Raw updates on the Adobe website once they start the Lightroom 7 subscription only program?

Does anyone have any experience importing raw files from a Canon t6i into Lightroom 6 standalone? Can the raw files be imported?

For $2000 you can get a refurbished 5D iii with a one year warantee from Canon Direct. Sometimes they lower the price to $1900. I got mine for that price at Chrismas time. They tend to lower prices for holidays.

I currently have the 7D ii and upgraded that from a 7D. In comparing the resolution of the 60D to the 7D and the 7D ii, keep in mind that the 18 megpixels of the 60D and the Original 7D are the same. The advantage of the 7D over the 60D was in FPS, the focusing system and the construction, not resolution. As far as the 7Dii, the resolution is slightly better that the original 7D but hardly noticeable to me. The main advantages of the 7D ii are the improved focusing system and the increase in the FPS. There is a slight improvement in noise reduction but not significant enough in comparison to that of a FF camera. If I were you, I would keep the 60D and get a FF. That way you would have the best of each, the reach of the 60D and the improved image quality and low light capacity of a FF.

I have had the 1D iii and the 60D. I currently have the 5Diii, 6D and the 7Dii. I liked the 1Diii for closeup subjects. But since I mainly do wildlife photography, I found the 10 megpixels to be inadequate for photographing distant subjects, even with 400 and 600 mm telephoto lenses. I never used a 5Dii but I can tell you both the 5Diii and the 6D have much better resolution than the 1Dii. I have found that the 6D is better in low light than the 5D iii. But if you are looking for rugged construction, I would suggest the 5Diii if you could afford it, or otherwise the 5Dii may be your better choice. My friend has one and is very happy with it. Last I checked, Canon Direct was selling the Refurbished 5Diii for 2,000 which comes with a full year warantee. Refurbs from Canon Direct is how I bought my 3 current cameras. I bought and sold my 1Diii through KEH and it was in excellent condition. I trust KEH and their rating system. I have bought several used cameras from them and would buy a used camera from them again.

I did it once with a computor that I do not use for editing. I was quite shocked to see that the photos disappeared from the memory card. But I was able to copy and paste the photos from the hard drive back onto the memory card. I was surprised it worked. I later was able to import the photos into Lightroom on my regular computer.

quote=JohnTxNC]I believe this issue has been resolved... I think I must have held or clicked the "Shift" key during the file transfer process - creating a "move" scenario rather than a copy and paste.

When working within the same "drive" a highlight and drag and drop "MOVES" the files. When you do this from outside the destination drive the files remain on the original drive. If you drag and drop and hold the shift key too, it appears that you change the action to a "Move" rather than "copy" and the files from the destination drive don't stay in place!

Lesson learned... don't do important tasks when you are mentally tired!

Thanks for the input!

_____________________________________________________original post:

I was using the DRAG and DROP method of moving 912 images (both RAW and JPG) totaling 12.5 GB to my Windows 10 Laptop when these photos disappeared off of the SD card immediately after the transfer. "Prior" to realizing that the large group of files were deleted, I also transferred two other jobs too. The two other groups were 262 images/3.41GB and 360 images/4.92 GB. These other two jobs were not deleted. The card is 32GB unit and so wasn't anywhere near full. I have used this card for about 3 - 4 months and recently reformatted it too.

There are a lot of methods to offload photos, including Lightroom and a direct wired link to the camera. I personally like the quickness I get when I insert my SD card directly into an internal card slot and Drag&Drop. My method included:
1) Creating and naming an empty folder
2) Opening a 2nd Explorer Window and navigating to my SD card files
3) Highlighting the files and drag and drop
Easy-Peasy and I've done it hundreds of time.

I never delete files from an SD card until those files have been stored in two locations, as a minimum, so this is a puzzle and it's alarming if it was random. Is there a secret key-stroke-combo to delete after import??

Has anyone experienced this before?

I'll be checking in later to respond, but may read responses via my phone as they come in...... Thanks in Advance![/quote]

I would keep the Nikon and invest in good glass. If you don't already have a prime or zoom that goes to 400mm, then that should be what.you buy.
