Does anyone have any experience importing raw files from a Canon t6i into Lightroom 6 standalone? Can the raw files be imported?

Yes, the v6 software supports any camera released before Jan-2017 and will support many of the 2017 releases when ongoing support ends later this year, prob Dec-2017.

To confirm for yourself, visit this link from Adobe where you'll find the EOS Rebel T6i has been supported by LR6 since the product was initially released.

I have no experience with any Canon DSLR, but that doesn't prevent me from giving an answer. : )

That camera was introduced two years ago, so it should be covered by LR. It doesn't take Adobe long to catch up with new models.

Jerry - this is a prime example of where a link to the documentation is a better response than an educated guess ....

Yes folks, but it is actually the Camera Raw version that gives the RAW file support. If Lightroom is not handling the RAW files it just means updating the Camera Raw version. Camera Raw updates are free downloads from the Adobe website.

Will they continue updating and providing the Raw updates on the Adobe website once they start the Lightroom 7 subscription only program?

Clapper - camera raw is not independent of LR. If LR doesn't support the camera, then you have to start workarounds and updating camera raw isn't that gets LR to handle the file in raw format.
