Thanks GrandmaJoy I liked the way the colors came out in #2 as well.

It was a typical Ohio day, cloudy not much color going on :)
Kids were getting cabin fever so we headed out for a walk and a stop at the pond to feed the ducks. While at the pond, kids were having fun, out of no where the clouds break open and allow a patch of sunlight to hit around the house and front of the lake. It was a really interesting to watch so I grabbed the camera and started shooting. Later that night I was looking through the pictures I had taken and there was just something about it that kept drawing my eye. I tweaked some attributes after running it through Photomatrix Pro, I like the way it turned out.

PlsFStopIt interesting, I'll I might look that up and check it out. I've yet to go back to the zoo to take pictures, been busy. I do want to try these ideas out and see how the pictures end up. I'm sure they won't be worse than what I'm used to shooting ;)

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who stopped by to comment on my photo. It's nice to see other peoples perspective's on what they like about a photo and what they dislike. That helped me make the third photo which I really like, plus I was able to go back and modify the 2nd photo and work on eliminating the halo around the capital. Cheers!

Was feeding my favorite Burm, deciding it was time to larger....so fed her a rabbit. It took a while, but she finally got it in. Problem was she didn't recuperate quick. Had about 3-4 inches of skin on both sides of head for 30 minutes or s. You could just tell she was tired. It was neat watching her "compose" herself.

now that would of been a sight to see Rex! Yeah maybe I don't give this snake enough credit :)

GWR100 and riverlass thanks for the reply!

Irvingite LOL nice!

Ed Greding - I know what you mean. I had two issues. 1) I have the default D3100 lens 18-55. I felt I was a close as I could get without spooking the snake. I really wanted to get some close up head shots to, but that didn't work out the way I wanted *bummer*

I too would have wanted to stay and watch the snake swallow the fish and taken a longer series of photos.

You would be surprised at what snakes can swallow. Rarely will they kill w/o being able to devour their prey. Snakes have the ability to unhinge their jaws, allowing them to swallow prey much larger than what you'd think.

Rex, I hear what your saying. I would have loved to watch it try. Seeing it though in real life vs. picture, I would have loved to stay and find out. I wonder how long a snake can leave it's jaw dislocated for...
