Nice, and they keep multiplying. And I thought Ridgecrest was earthquake country. 6.9 & 7.4 in 2019, shaken not stirred. TFS Cliff
While perusing some old photos, I came across this photo from 2010 that was taken while riding in a tour buss across the Italian Alps. Upon arriving back home I tried cleaning it up, adjusting colour, etc. Finally gave up and forgot about it until recently. Located, cropped and converted to B&W and was able to remove some clutter in the foreground and, this was the result.
And our 1st astronauts were sent aloft in systems, equipment, processes and procedures created by engineers and scientists using slide rules. mechanical calculators, and pencils and paper, how did they ever get them to the moon and back????
I had a heck of time with fractions and my Mom being practical and creative used a pie. not pi, to illustrate how fractions worked. It worked and we ate the leftovers. 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, slices, and using the different combinations of pie would equal what ever the answer should be. Some people need a visual connection to a group abstract numbers, then you get an ah ha moment.....
This needs a bump for any new Pentax shooters. Oh by the way, I just picked up a barely used, no dust or fingerprints, Panasonic DC ZS 70 because it has a viewfinder and it fits in a large pocket. I keep it in my truck for those times when I don't have the K3 along. Happy shooting to new and mature Pentaxians........Cliff
Maybe I should repost this and call "It Goes Boom" to get more views.
Hey guys, thanks for looking, Cliff
Now that sign has character, a little touch-up would not hurt. May it be around for another 50 or so years. TFS Cliff
This little toy depicts what happens when a Sidewinder Missile detonates at the target. Decorating the entrance to the community center in Ridgecrest. The Naval Weapons Test Center where the Sidewinder Missile was developed is a couple of miles north of the sculptures.

Well folks, thanks to my room mate loaning me a credit card for a new lens, and having scrounged up Xmas funds and another loan for a body, I will have a new rig as of this coming Wednesday.
At that time I will be heading back to the Rookery to try my luck.
All of the lamps at the Osprey sight, which is in a parking lot of a super market, are being changed out to LED.
And they will not be conducive to Osprey nest building. So this pair will have to find a new nest location after all these years.
I am pretty sure this female is getting up in years, as she is not making herself available for mating as in previous years, and as of today, no sign she is sitting on any eggs. But all is not lost, her chicks last year came about the Last of February - early March.
The store management is leaving their nest lamp alone until they are finished rearing this set of chicks should they happen:)

The cat is outnumbered and the dogs are much larger. He doesn't have a lot of choice in the matter.
Cats are patient and have a long memory, the Cat will administer a PAY BACK at some time in the future, a time of his choosing.
Nice stump but, where is the skunk that caused all that verbiage?? He already slunk maybe???? TFS. Cliff
