Putting a new camera in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it is a recipe for disaster
Broad way at the beach shopping and sightseeing
Murals inlet marsh walk several restaurants with a pier and Christmas tree
Huntoning state park good for birding and the crocodiles
Just the water tower but the whole town is lit up and has an “old 50ds town feel” several great places to eat
Visit city of Conway just 10 miles west of Myrtle Beach drive out 501, 501 splits stay to the right when it does split

I was also the President of Park West Camera Club, Manhattan, NYC for 6-1/2 years and we have around 80 members but in our club, the average age is 60+ with one lady in her late 90s. Photography as a hobby is relatively expensive and ongoing. Being retired and drawing a pension sure helps as well as having leisure time, for trips and vacations.
Nowadays, there are so many avocations that compete with photography. And with business as it is, photography is not that attractive as a vocation!
Be well! Ed

It’s sad really isn’t it many crafts will fade away becoming forgotten over time
I find it intristing many hogs talking about the younger generations not taking time to learn about a craft. As I recall learning the photography craft from a camera with auto nothing into the dark room again nothing automated we were the younger generation we all did that we took the time energy stamina to learn. Now move forward 50 years WE, our generation, made the computers and so many more electronics making life easer with instant gratification. Look back from loading a freash roll of film, from exposing the film, processing the film, printing the images, certainly nothing about the process was instant gratification. So now we have F/B, instagram, tictoc and more that I’m unaware of getting “LIKES” there is your instant gratification, WE our generation had a lot to do with a whole generation of people unable/unwilling to put time into a craft.
I was a photo club president with around 75 members in NJ I’d have to say average age around 50+

Please re-read my post. At no time did I refer to AI images as "photographs". I called them either "pictures" or "images". I think most people would agree that it's highly unlikely to have a "photograph" of a dragon or ghost
Yes ; but those images are making there way into “photography competitions” and bending reality! Art who’s to say it’s is not art, it can be made into a works of “art”. Looking at paintings, an artist sitting in front of a blank canvas is creating an image from their minds eye. Remember Bob Ross “let’s put a happy tree right here. Where I have an issue with AI is when the creator calls the image photography.
Light and just as small as my Olympus gear take a look at the FF Sony A7C2
Not everyone is old at 70 and beyond
Keep busy both with your body and mind, that’s what I’m trying to do
Luckily cameras are getting smaller smarter, yeah for us old farts
Well for me I went most of the “D***” Nikon cameras I found MU43 Olympus and couldn’t get over the quality of my images simply awesome! I sence retired but was shooting HS and college events when my D5 was going “clunk/clunk/clunk” in a perfectly quiet auditorium, well I went to my local camera store purchased a Sony A9 w/24-105 & 70-200 only so I wouldn’t disturb the audience. There was a FF camera lighter and smaller better low light quality faster focusing than my Nikon system. I slowly sold/traded my Nikon for Sony system. So long story to get to this I just purchased the Sony A7C2 it’s smaller and lighter than my OM1 camera with a FF sensor, don’t get me wrong Olympus is an amazing system and I will continue to use Olympus as well
It depends is this a “family vacation” or is this a “photo adventure” if family vacation than 1 body 1 lens maybe a fast f1.2 for no flash shots
Wow
Blast from the passed
I think I was around 10 mom n dad gave Mr a canon tlql with a 50mm lens, as I recall, for Christmas we were going to Williamsburg over the holidays. I also got 3 rolls of film. I sat in the back seat read, reread the manual on the way to Williamsburg. I shot all 3 rolls of film in the first day, yes they bought more. I was hooked and that was 60 years ago
