What a pretty pooch. My wife and I rescued one of these that was scratching at our back door at 2:00 AM.
She was 14 when when we had to put her down due to seizures.

I bought a large box of random tripods, brackets, clamps, stands which included three of these with small ball heads and a Manfrotto heavy duty tripod for $50 about 15 years ago. I didn't know exactly what to do with them but over the years have used them extensively. Mostly to mount and position speed lights for various lighting situations. One of those things that you seldom think about until you need one then they become quite valuable.
