Saw this fellow today, spent a few minutes working on a relationship. Captured a few rather nice shots.

Hope you all enjoy.

Sounds great to me, especially if it's free! What I really meant was that when I heard one of their calls I would have probably forgotten which one was the double free beer bird so would have to refer back to your post!

I suspected as much, but I have never been the kind to miss an opportunity to share a beer, or make a new friend!

Very nice set, and I bookmarked your post, because I'm sure that I will need to refer back to it! Thanks!

Sir, I accept your comments as I grand compliment, however I must confess I don't quite understand your .... thoughts. I suspect we would require several beers shared to fully comprehend each other.

Lets schedule it!

I am really enjoying flycatchers, the most reliable way to distingish between the Alder Flycatche and the Wkllow Flycatcher is their call - Willow Flycatcher offers Free Beer, Free Beer. The Olive-sided is much thirstier and not as patient, calling out "Quick Three Beers".

Fun at any bar!

Singular "uncommon" birds visiting our little town park, Jacobson Park, Lexington Ky always amaze me. This week's surprise was one strange white gull. After researching it, I do beleive our flying thru visitor is a Forester's Tern.

Fellow was rather evasive, staying at the farther range of my 150-600 mm Sigma Lens.

Captured this image this AM, Lexington KY. Merlin says it is a Mallard. I am not sure. Head, bill, and feather looks....wrong.

Any help would be appreciated. Solitary duck today, not a bit shy.

Thanks in advance

My best waterfall shots have been taken at night.

It is one solution to having to work with the extreme whites of frothy water simmering in the sun and the dark shadows. The low light allows, actually forces you to use long exposures, and opens up the entire scene with smooth consistent lighting over the entire picture.

Yes, a tripod is a must, and you need extra care in getting to and from the area, and falling during the shoot is a possibility, but I think you will find the results.....worth the effort.

Plus, in the darkness, you can "paint" the view with light from flashlights, opening up all kinds of creative possibilities. Yes, you do need to know you equipment well enought to use it in the dark.

Good luck!

Possible Bold-Based Zale (Zale lunifera) sighting.

I know this critter is suspose to stay south and east of the Appalachian Mountains, but I found this sample on my white pine tree in Lexington Ky.

Best photos I have are posted. White balance was with camera mounted flash, so it sould be right on, and appears as I recall it, browner than gray. It was large, i would guess 1.75 to 2 inches in length, sorry no time to ask him to hold a quarter for scale purposes.

Okay bug freaks and butterfly aficionados, help me please.

Thanks in advance.
