morning, i have a canon eos rebel xsi with ef-s 18-55 is and ef-s 55-250mm f/4-5.6 is lenses. not top of the line, but effective for me for now as a newcomer to dslr photography. i have been through some of the tutorials and have been through the instruction manual on how to set live view. i know that some say that you really do not want to shoot in live view when freehanding, understandable, that you really only should sometimes use it when on a tripod, but i cannot get my camera to set this function. whether i plan to use this function or not is beside the point. i still want to be able to experience it, whether i need it or not. i bought the kit used, for a song, maybe this is the problem, that the function does not work so they got rid of it. caveat emptor maybe? any input would help. the local camera store is no help, they just want to send it off.

i don't know how important it would be but if it is availiable why not get it. as they say, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. as iv'e read here, you can get some camera shake even with a tripod, i would try it both ways, with is on and with is off and see what you get. if you do get a little shake, try a remote.

i have enjoyed reading uhh for about a month now and am captivated with the world of photography along with the input and humor of some of the posters. i am new to dslr photography just purchasing an entry level canon xsi with the lens kit. i do not know alot about all the numbers and jargon that is posted, but that is why i am here to learn, so with that being said, be gentle on me.
