Our guide told us that in the 10 days we were there, we would see more of the country than the average Cuban does in a lifetime! The Cuban people live in a beautiful open air prison, foreign travellers are the ones that have it good. We did not encounter any interference from their government. The people we met expressed great warmth to Americans while realizing that our governments don't get along. It is a photographer's paradise.

They are located in Canada and staffed by Cubans. We travelled with them a few years ago, and felt like we got a lot more for trip for our money. They have a wonderful birding trip if you are into that sort of thing.
The biggest surprise on the way to Machu Picchu is Cusco. Your flight to Machu Picchu will most like land there. The Sacred Valley and Saksaywaman are amazing. See

Also if you have time, Otovalo is the largest indigenous market in South America.
Your 28-300 should do well there, I would think that the 150-600 would be so big and heavy that it would be cumbersome to travel with. Any local guide could give you birding advice. If you Google "birding in Peru" you'll get several good hits.
Have you tried manual focus? I know that it can be difficult when you’re shooting a moving object, but the results can be amazing. What mode do you generally use?
After acquiring a D810, I have reluctantly decided to sell my D610. It has traveled extensively and bears some scars. I am the original owner. Shutter count is under 30,000. It fell to the ground in 2016 while attached to a tripod (long story available if you want to hear it). I sent it to Nikon two years ago and had it completely gone through after the spill. Paperwork from Nikon available on request. It was my first full frame camera, and takes better pictures now than when it was new! I am including the items in the first picture: Nikon D610 with body cap, Nikon strap, 2- SanDisk 32GB SD cards, and a Nikon battery. I will ship anywhere if you will pay the pre-agreed shipping expense. Price is $610.
I usually like color, but the B&W really works on this subject. It's a great shot!
My wife has an SX-60. She never uses the viewfinder, and it drives me crazy! I showed her a trick that may be useful for you. Open the viewfinder, rotate it, and flip it on the back of the camera. The screen nestles in the back of the camera and the viewfinder is disabled. Hope that it helps!
Also, look at page 4, item 19 in the manual. If you hit that part of control ring, it toggles between viewfinder and screen....
Nikon was thinking that older Nikon DSLR owners with many lenses could not justify buying new lenses for the new mount. There will be a group of Nikon owners that will buy the new body and adapter if they can use their F mount lenses. I am one of them! My lenses are worth way more than the new body....
Did anybody mention 2 of my favorite National Parks- Theodore Roosevelt and Badlands? If you make it to the badlands, try and make it to Wall Drugstore. Loads of fun, free ice water, and 5 cent coffee!
