I don’t think it really matters in the grand scheme of things. Some will choose to use the very best, most capable cellphone cameras money will buy, others will still use their DSLRs and enjoy the results, and still others will love and use their mirrorless cameras. And there will be those who use both a cellphone camera and another dedicated type of camera. There will always be progress and technology will continue to advance, some will flow with it and some will be content with what they have. I just don’t see a real issue here. Oh, and whatever it is that the current crop of cellphone cameras can’t do or do well, such as BIF’s, wildlife, etc., will likely be addressed in the future and overcome.

just to clarify, I do have the pro but not the max. I didn't see the need for me to have a bigger screen.

I have since sold my Epson wide format printer and pretty much retired from that end of things. if I did print something that large, I don't know what I would do with it. I have a pie of metal prints I still need to sell.
But I may pick one someday and have it printed 24x36 to satisfy my curiosity.

Like you, I would normally use my D850 or Z9.

The iPhone is satisfying my need for taking snapshots of things I will never enlarge to try and sell.

It could be a big story. In the current political climate, the networks would not miss the chance to sell a lot of ads on nightly news.

Never underestimate the power of using emotional fear mongering and controversy to sell advertising, cultural affiliation, religious affiliation, racial identification, nationalism, or any other -ism. Anything that raises cortisol levels makes for great television viewership. Never underestimate how often your thoughts are being manipulated by institutions of all types for their financial gain.

The first rule of sales is to create a harm, a problem to solve, an enemy to defeat, a "team" to join, or a challenge to be overcome. Never mind whether it is real or not, significant or not, true or false. If it is believable, it can be a money maker. A third of the population will probably believe anything if you say it with conviction often enough. Another third or so will think it's ridiculous. The other third doesn't care or pay attention, or has something else to do...

I agree completely. When I was a young'un in parochial school, the good nuns taught us to bow our head whenever we said or heard the name Jesus. I've continued that practice to this day. It is especially relevant when someone either in person or on TV uses the name Jesus irreverently. Even I've been guilty on occasion, such as when I might hammer a nail and miss the nail but accidentally hit my finger. Without thinking, I might then scream the name of Jesus irreverently, then realize what I've just said, and bow my head and add on a little prayer to Our Lord.
