would like to see more posts of fall colors, with dialogue indicating where and when the photos were taken; Dells area in WI, UP in MI, Wasatch Mountains in SLC, Yosemite are possiblities for next year(s)
every year I chase; week too early, week too late, too dry this year, too wet this year, etc. just came back from a weekend trip to UT. The UHHer who posted and talked about the Mt Nebo Scenic Byway was right on; never knew about this road until the UHHer mentioned it. Hit it just right - thank you

Every year is different.
There are websites that track this real time unless you are close to the poster and they didn't wait to post as I frequently do a week or more.

It's a warm and sunny October here in Quebec city, Canada. It produced exceptionally beautiful colors. You may see the colors by visiting my online gallery here:

“Good colors” depend on conditions - mostly temperature and water. We heard about New England colors, but in the eight years we lived there, we hardly ever had good colors, which require that the leaves of different trees die together. So often, one type of tree completely loses its leaves, another are in full color, while a third still has green leaves.
Still lots of green in my yard today.

Visited your site, great colors there this year!

Here goes. In the back yard in the Philly suburbs. Two sugar maples. One at peak behind the cherry tree on the right and one about 3-4 days until peak on the left. Also on the left, red maples just beginning, black gum just beginning, and a Callery pear peeking out with it’s purple coloring. In the distance, you can see the yellows in the wooded hills. Phenomenal year for color around here. Drought to stress the trees in summer and early fall. Just enough rain late in the season to allow the physiological processes behind leaf pigmentation to occur, and a fall of warm days and cool nights. Best fall color we’ve had in a long time (I’m a horticulturist by training. Sorry for droning on.)
