For an amateur/hobby photographer I have some pretty decent cameras and lens. If any professional photographers are intimidated or worried about me or my photos they likely should be considering a new line of work or realize they are really probably not that good anyway. TNmike

Rongnongno, the advice and help you need is not available on this site. Your situation is way too advanced for anything that can be provided here. TNmike

I just sent you a PM and the issue you state did not show up for me. I've not sent many PM's on the forum but have never had an issue. TNmike

In a post I read here on UHH recently, someone mentioned micro tuning lenses to a Canon camera. They said it was easy and made a big difference. Can someone please explain the process and what it does? I had never heard of this.

Laura, look on page 105 in you Canon 5DIII manual for 'microadjustment'. The process is about the same on your 7D. TNmike

Looking to get some midwestern eagle shots. The cold should have driven them down river from Dubuque and Starved Rock. Can anyone verify that there are lots of them in the Alton area. Further south?? I have wanted to go shoot them for several years, and this year I am committed to getting this checked off my bucket list.

nikonbug bald eagles are closer than you realize. You need to check out Reelfoot Lake in northwest TN. There are a number of pair that stay year around but at least a couple of hundred come for the winter. During January and February their is an eagle festival and eagle tours. Link of info below. A ballhead is made to take a camera/lens combo that's intended to work kind of like a vice; to hold the camera in a particular position to capture a particular image. The best ballheads will let you set the adjustment to such a fine level that moving the camera and lens to follow a subject without making constant adjustments for creep very easy. The best can also take large heavy lenses but using them to track birds and wildlife is just not the most productive way to shoot. You'll hit the wall pretty quickly. The best ballheads, IMO, are Kirk, RRS, Arca-Swiss, Markins, and Acratech. I use Kirk.

Gimbal heads are designed specifically to handle long heavy setups for tracking and photographing wildlife, especially birds in flight. The unique design of the best gimbals allow for smooth effortless tracking with even the heaviest gear. Once configured for your gear, the gimbal allows unlimited movement in a 360-degree circle, way too tough to do easily on a ballhead. The best gimbals are Wimberley (mechanical) and NEST (a fluid head). I have a Wimberley.

It is very very important that your head (whatever kind it is) and your tripod EACH can support 2-3 times the weight your likely to put on it.

Believe it or not US$$, cash, still works in most places in the US. You can get it to me any way you wish but until I have the $$ in my pocket you won't receive your merchandise. TNmike

First a typo I meant a 70 -300mm DX (not 28 - 300 lens) but shot at 300mm so same thing. No lens creep noticable. Certainly not enough to account for the moon size difference. I agree the size from the 300mm should be larger than from the 180mm FX but it was a 1/2 to 1/4 the size - way smaller. I must have screwed up in some other way but at the moment have no idea what I could have done. No big deal just curious.

Post the two photos with the store original and someone here will be able to help/explain. TNmike

One thing you need to watch out for with their Ebay listings, often there is a shipping charge. The same item is often available for the same price from their website with FREE shipping. You should always check the item on their website before hitting that Buy Now button on Ebay.

I had checked and the lens I purchased and it was not listed in their used inventory. The item was listed as a Buy it Now or Best Offer and my offer was what I was willing to pay and took into consideration the small shipping charge and they accepted. I feel that I paid a very reasonable price for the lens. You are correct though that there was a shipping charge. TNmike

Over the years I've purchase quite a number of items from ebay with mostly good experiences. But being I've always been leery of purchasing electronics and photo gear. Recently I was looking for a lens but didn't find what I was looking for in any of the used departments of any of the major retailers. I went to check ebay to just check and see what might be available. Well I found what I was looking for listed on ebay by Adorama and made the purchase. The service and experience was just as great as a purchase from Adorama directly. In a communication with Adorama through ebay messaging I received the name, email address, and phone number of the Adorama ebay representative. This made feel very confident that if there should be an issue I had an easy means of making personal contact. Of course there were no issues, great communications, speedy shipping, proper packing, and the lens was exactly as described in the ebay listing. This is just a note to let everyone know that you get the same great Adorama service on ebay as you do with a direct purchase. TNmike
