Where are the eagles now? (Jan 13, 2014)

Looking to get some midwestern eagle shots. The cold should have driven them down river from Dubuque and Starved Rock. Can anyone verify that there are lots of them in the Alton area. Further south?? I have wanted to go shoot them for several years, and this year I am committed to getting this checked off my bucket list.

nikonbug bald eagles are closer than you realize. You need to check out Reelfoot Lake in northwest TN. There are a number of pair that stay year around but at least a couple of hundred come for the winter. During January and February their is an eagle festival and eagle tours. Link of info below. There seem to be plenty at lock & dam 13, 14 & 18 according to some photographers on facebook. I want to go to 18 and try to get some shots.

Maybe Davenport/Quad Cities area??? Never saw one when growing up there. Left at 17 for the Marine Corps and never returned. Deer and Eagles seem to be the norm there now. :)
