I guess that's it, because I just went out and looked at it and the flowers are already all wilting and stink! They only lasted a day or so.
This calls for a toast to all of you great friends on UHH.
I use a newton rotory bracket, but any quality brand like stroboframe is good. the important thing is to be able to position the flash directly over the lens in both horozontal and vertical shots. This eliminates that annoying shadow on the wall behind your subject. For outdoor shots it's not so critical.
Thank you! It is amazing that the flower is so large in proportion to the actual plant. I just realized that I should have posted it on the photo gallery.
I have this cactus plant in my yard that only seems to flower every few years. Anyone out there know the name of it? First shot with my phone, second with 105mm micro vr@ f/16, 1/60 and fill from SB600.
As a former NY'er I've been there. Beautiful set, and I like the enhancements GeneB made.
Great compositions, and I agree with what littlebiddle said.
Fantastic macro-photography!
What you're looking for is a focus tracking feature. I'm not familiar with your camera, but if it's a point and shoot I doubt it has the aforementioned feature. A sports setting will select higher shutter speeds so that may be the best you can get with it.
The stuff you're talking about is for those at the top of their game who are making a living at photography! You do not have to feel inadequate because you don't have and cannot afford that kind of equipment. You will see many outstanding photos on this forum made by photographers as a hobby, and not with very expensive gear. Remember, it's the person behind the camera that sees a good image, then makes a good composition and focuses and makes a proper exposure.
As you get better at this, then more expensive gear may give you an edge or make the job easier to catch that exceptional image. It will take some time, which causes many to give up, which is why the used market for photogear abounds with good bargains, much to our delight!
Try separating your subjects from the background more, that will make the background softer and less distracting. There also is vignetting, mabey wrong lensshade in use.
Good posing and expressions!
