You have a quality old potato-masher flash.
You need a Sunpak CA-1D module to adapt it for Canon.
It is no longer available from Sunpak.

The flash will safely work with your DSLR, however it will not provide E-TTL.
It only worked in A-TTL mode, and the DSLRS don't work with A-TTL flashes, except in full manual mode.

If you want E-TTL flash, it’s called a new flash.

Electrical tape is shiny. Both will get gooey in the sun or the heat from lamps.
