I have 2018 Mazda 6 and love it, but wipers have a unique mount only available from the dealership at $58.00 ea CDN plus 13% tax. Due to our wonderful winters it's a new pair of wipers every year. They want $60 ea for Mazda spark plugs which are actually NGK still $29 ea CDN. and because its a Turbo need to be replaced every 40,000 miles.

I had a Mazda 626 back in the 90’s. Great car. Odometer quit working at 260,000 miles. A year later I sold it to a guy moving to Alaska. Was still running great although I had the transmission rebuilt while I had it. Currently have a deposit on a new Mazda cx-5 due to come from the factory. Gonna get rid of one of my Hyundai’s. Really liked them till I found out some model’s engine were crapping out due to oil consumption causing rod bearing failure.

Quite a few posts on Facebook about the situation. Sad.

Going the e-mail rounds.

The other day, a young person asked me: - What did it feel like to be old?
I was very surprised by the question, since I did not consider myself old. When he saw my reaction, he was immediately embarrassed, but I explained that it was an interesting question. And after reflection, I concluded that getting old is a gift.
Sometimes I am surprised at the person who lives in my mirror. But I don't worry about those things for long. I wouldn't trade everything I have for a few less gray hairs and a flat stomach. I don't scold myself for not making the bed, or for eating a few extra "little things." I am within my rights to be a little messy, to be extravagant, and to spend hours staring at my flowers.
I have seen some dear friends leave this world, before they had enjoyed the freedom that comes with growing old.
-Who cares if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 in the morning and then sleep until who knows what time?
I will dance with me to the rhythm of the 50's and 60's. And if later I want to cry for some lost love...I will!
I'll walk down the beach in a swimsuit that stretches over my plump body and dive into the waves letting myself go, despite the pitying looks of the bikini-wearers. They'll get old too, if they're lucky...
It is true that through the years my heart has ached for the loss of a loved one, for the pain of a child, or for seeing a pet die. But it is suffering that gives us strength and makes us grow. An unbroken heart is sterile and will never know the happiness of being imperfect.
I am proud to have lived long enough for my hair to turn gray and to retain the smile of my youth, before the deep furrows appeared on my face.
Now, to answer the question honestly, I can say: -I like being old, because old age makes me wiser, freer!-.
I know I'm not going to live forever, but while I'm here, I'm going to live by my own laws, those of my heart.
I'm not going to regret what wasn't, nor worry about what will be.
The time that remains, I will simply love life as I did until today, the rest I leave to God.

I was in Bryce in 1973 in April. Actually still had snowdrifts; however, the roads were open.
Just my 2 cents worth. Beautiful place to see.

I’ll second the d5500. Have one works well for me.

A (real) camera accompanys me out the door perhaps one time in ten. But in such instances it stays in the car nine times out of ten.

The above does NOT include my phone. The above is about "inclination to possibly consider entering into photograhic mode". My phone has nothing to do with that.

To me, the phone camera is like a little sketch pad thaz always on me. Its NOT for recording my "life and times". (6-Pack of examples from "sketch pad" shown below.)

Exactly. Perhaps that has something to do with the mess we’re in. :-)

Unless it’s extremely hot, I always carry a camera in the car. Doesn’t mean I have to use it; but, it’s there if I want to take a picture of something.

I have a Canon SX50 that I bought for my wife awhile ago that is not being used. If you're interested in an older bridge camera that takes great pictures for a very reasonable price, check out the stats let me know.

In early January I’m planning to spend about a week in or around Mexico City. I would love to hear people’s suggestions of favorite places to see & photograph in or around Mexico City. In addition, if anyone has hired a photo guide for a day would love any recommendations you may have. Thx a lot.

I hate to be negative about your trip. But, I grew up in so. Texas 7 miles from the border. As a teen we quite often on Saturdays went to Reynosa across the border because you could get good food cheap and more so nobody asked for ID’s when you went to the lounges or bars. Of course, the area of town where we went was where most of the people were Americans were from our side of the border; never downtown at night. Went to the interior of Mexico in 1972 for a week and things were generally safe (before cartels). Things started getting worse in the 80’s and there is no way I would go there now. It’s a shame because there are some beautiful areas of the country. Be very careful if you go.

I’ve used a beanbag on a car window. It worked ok. What I found that worked better was using a section of an insulation tube like is used on water pipes. Has a slit to slip over the top of the window & is cheap to buy. Some people may even have an extra tube from what they have for pipes. You can even roll up the window with it on.

Simple solution; call the city department responsible. If they say it does not apply to amateur photographers, get them to send a letterhead, signed letter stating such. That way you would know for sure & avoid any confusion.
