Because the sensor on the Oly has less image quality, one would like to use a faster lens to keep ISO low. The Canons sensor can get away with F4. Makes the two more equivalent for image quality.

Honestly, I just consider it more information, not mis-information. Most of us can evaluate the mix of details and the variables, but also must reconcile the cost vs advantage considerations. If one is invested over 8 grand in one system, the more information the better if one is considering a switch. Most of us have made many such decisions along the way. By all means, add to the information as you see it. But recognize that there is rarely just one correct evaluation. Hence, each brand has its own way of designing, and each has its buyers. In the end, does it get us more enjoyment (and better pics)?

Thank You! You are the only source for those comparison weights I have found. So much press on this whole subject, and yet....
I have been kicking this around for quite a while, and weight was the biggest decision point. It aint cheap to switch systems!

Thanks for posting actual lens setup weights,,,,and you are right, its minimal. Far cheaper to skip a few cheeseburgers and keep those Nikon/Canon lenses, and the huge choices available. One can always buy a small body (D3400/5600 or a rebel) to travel light

All of the endless "stuff" aside, take some same pics with each and compare. You may find one has more of a "dimension" to the look. I wont say which, but give it a try.

Give it a test try. I have built and fly over 50 RC model planes, helis, quads and jets. Goo and Goop have become my go to glue for stuff that's need to hang tuff. Very few glues hold as well over a wide range of materials and conditions. I have tried everything on the shelves, as you might imagine. The rubberized CA's are impressive, but not as flexible.

Having used most adhesives, I find Shoe Goo or Goop to be great for hard to hold plastics. Its tenacious, yet remains pliable to absorb shocks and temp changes. Silicone rubber, Beacon Foam Tac and BSI Foam cure may also work, with less hold, in case you want to remove in the future. Clean surfaces with alcohol (not rubbing alcohol which contains oils). Roughing up the surface with sandpaper improves bond.

Ha, points well taken. The other day I was at an airshow and a guy had a cellphone mounted on a big stabilization/handle type rig. I had to chuckle at the big smile on his face (vs knowing the quality of pics he would get). But that was his tool of choice, and he enjoyed it, and the photos as well, I suspect. So in that regard, the essence of photography existed.
But, sometimes all of the hype over phones baffles me, especially in a world so full of so many other technological devices. So many are so buried in them that the world around them is often only a reflection of what they want to see in the small screen. And I fear the indoctrination of the younger generations to what they see and think is the extent of facts as "provided" to them. I often think adolf would have loved cell phones,,,he would not have had to drop leaflets from airplanes. Its become quite alarming in recent years, often reflected in the anger and "simplicity" of on-line posts. Appreciate your balanced and intelligent posts.

Is it just me, or as phones get "smarter" do people get dumber? A better tool to fool folks has never been invented. Just sayin.. and as cameras, well, they are what they aint.

It is the BANKS CHOICE to hire whomever they want. It is YOUR CHOICE to use that bank or not. If race is your only criterion, so be it. If merit and performance is your criterion, so be it. If both coincide, SO BE IT!

As an employer for over 40 years, a biz man should be able to hire anyone he wants for any reason, as it is HIS biz, HIS family and HIS tail in the sling. It is HIS blood sweat and tears that are at stake. I hired on MERIT, not because I was forced to hold some quota by those who have never had their tail in the sling, and get their paychecks by bilking the public tax system. And if for some reason I felt for example, that communication skills were not up to the standard of MY biz, that person did not get hired, just because they were some identity group. Now if some customer doesn't feel that they like some companies practices, DONT SHOP THERE. Let the free market decide, not politicians who have no real skin in the game, no matter what color it is. We have seen way too much "railroading" based on identity politics in this nation. Let men and women decide, for themselves.

What is impressive is how the D500/D7500 sensor handles hi ISO dark areas. This can be seen on DP Review.
