If you were in Arizona, it is an Elegant Trogon.

Yep, it's an elegant trogon. And, yep, it's in southern Arizona. In the sycamore canyons at Fort Huachuca. I have a couple better photo's but they're stored on external hard drives. It's not easy to get good photo's of those guys.

Something I am sure he never did and that was to read the Bible.

I suspect he did. He probably read comic books too. I've read the bible, old and new testament. And I'm an atheist. Can't make that leap of faith.

The Canon 100mm F2.8 macro lens. It's an incredibly versatile lens. I'd never part with it and can't sing enough paises for it. The perfect all-around, imho. I am terrified of bees and wasps. I literally scream like a little girl if one is near me (and sometimes even cry). This is very hard (especially with a heart condition) but they fascinate me, at the same time. I've had a legitimate phobia of them for as long as I can remember; since I was a very little girl.

I recently posted some of my Alaska Brown Bear photo's and your comments about being afraid of your subjects rang loud and true. I sweat through my clothes every time I get close to them. There is something both terrifying and thrilling about being close enough to them to get good photographs. They scare me and fascinate me in equal measure. My mantra while photographing them is "face your fears...face your fears"

I have some really nice photo's of a bobcat that I called in with an electronic game caller. No harm came to the subject, although he looked a little embarrassed when he figured out what had happened. Ethical? I think so, at least I was shooting him with a camera, he lived to respond to a dying rabbit another day.

I've never heard anyone call hummingbirds easy targets but your photo's make it look that way. Great shots!

I suspect the location listed, Fort Morgan, Colorado might be part of the answer.

Really nice work! Thanks for posting. I spent two different tours on Guam in the early to mid 70's, with a tour in the Philippines in between. I wasn't into photography then, spent most of my free time SCUBA diving. You should give it a try if you have even the slightest inclination, some really good opportunities for underwater photography.
