Entered several photos in our County Fair last September. They require all photos to be framed and 8x10. I just entered because I wanted others to see my work. Ended up getting 1st Place for a close-up black and white (converted from color) photo of a Bartlett Pear on the tree. The same photo also took Best of Show for all 22 categories. Didn't think I would win anything because there are always the same people displaying their photos. Enterd 5 photos and received awards for 4. You just never know who will like your work. I like to study those on display to discover ways to improve my own. Just have fun.

Amen to that. Protecting myself is my responsibility. If the police get there in time, great, if not Smith, Wesson, Colt and Ruger are are always at hand.
I'm sorry but you need to get yuour nomenclature correct. These are "defense" weapons. I never plan to use one for "assault" and nrither do most other people.
Let's get right to the core..Biden is worthless as a leader. Seems ironic that nothing is said and very few are concerned that we MURDER an unborn baby every minute.
No time is a good time to talk about gun bans. People kill people, not guns. I haven't heard any talk about banning cars.
Probably Obama said they would open so he could jump but then Obama wouldn't have anyone to lie about.
I usually shoot these quick fliers in burst mode. Usually one of the shots will be clear and sharp. Not a high tech approach, but try it, it works for me. SHOOT. SHOOT SHOOT!!!
Great shots. Telling a story is my idea of great photography. I'm not interested in the "perfect" picture. Let the photos tell me what you were feeling when you took the shots. Keep up the good work!!!
They should both RUN. One to Chicago, the other to Boston.
And stay there.
There's really no reason for debate. Do you prefer sugared or plain donuts? It's your choice. I tried both ways, actually 3 ways, and chose the one that works for me. I like raw =jpeg because the jpeg file gives me a reference point when PP the raw image. I too never use the jpeg for the final print. Enjoy, just enjoy. Try not to make it harder than it really is. You are 100% correct. My reason for not posting as well. There are many other places to post that don't take over. Try shutterfly. com.
I agree most heartedly. Boy Scout motto, BE PREPARED! Although with our present administration that may be shorter lived than we would like. Too much govt and not enough caring. S&W go with me too.
Hi Maggie;
MTShooter is right on. I use a D3100 myself and the learning curve is still happening. Takes great images though. Keep at it, you'll catch on. I found there is one other parameter that enters the equation. If you wear glasses or contacts, the diopter adjustment might not be enough. I struggled with it for several weeks (not getting sharp images) only to find out it was me not the camera. There are items that can help the problem but I have found that it if I use a black hood (so I can block out the bright light around me) and the "live view" screen things are much sharper. A piece of black cotton cloth is cheap compared to the attachments you can buy. Practice, practice, practice is the best answer.

Grew up on a farm. Never had one kill a cow. Probably another myth or old wives tale.
I am a "stock" photographer, however when my church decided to do a directory with family images as a part of it, I volunteered my services to keep the costs down. As far as the idea that "professional photographers" are the only way to go; well, I just feel sorry for those that think that way. I don't have a studio, or need one, but the images are still excellent.
