Tom V is correct they are heavy, I have my 393 attached to a Bogen Monfrotto 3046 which weighs a ton by its self.
I really like the 3046, I am 6'1" and so many tripods are just to short for me. I think it goes uo to 8'. I like the crank handle it locks it in. I think it could stand steady in hurricane winds.
I am 65 years old and semi hadicapped, my backpacking days are long gone. These days, my idea of roughing it, is a Hotel without room service.
I have a old V-8, all wheel drive Mercury Mountaineer, named after Sir Edmund Hillary, that I can take anywhere. Eddie just goes.
I set up the tripod to my height, attach the camera and lay down in the back on some padding. When I see something I want to shoot, open the hatch extend the legs and a couple of minutes I ready to shoot.
I wanted sturdy. I want to feel that my Canon 1Ds Mark III and my 100-400 mm are not going to come crashing down. I think this combanation is good for around 40 pounds.

I thinking filling water balloons with a little food color and breaking them in the tub.

I have had a couple of them, they were disappointing and reside in a drawer.
However The SMDV works great. It's around 60 dollars and worth every cent.
I think I found it on ebay,

Tamron's G2 is like Canons II, it is the second generation.
I copied this from the net.

Another G2 style lens that I’ve actually been using longer than the other two is the Tamron 90mm SP f/2.8 Di VC Macro. I’ve shot almost every blog product on this website with this lens, and it is my go-to product photography lens. Since I’ve been shooting with it for over a year, I figured it was time for a proper review. I hope you enjoy, and are as pleasantly surprised as I was.
Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro
Pros
Extremely sharp
Great build quality
Weather sealed
Great image stabilization
Nice manual focus ring
Renders colors pleasantly
Priced well compared to the Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro
Cons
Slower AF performance at close distances and in continuous AF
Build Quality and Ergonomics – Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro
Keeping in line with the rest of their SP G2 lenses, the Tamron 90mm macro also features a nice quality build and ergonomic feel. Unlike many other luxury lenses, this lens is made of mostly metal and high-quality materials, but remains relatively light at the same time. As with other Tamron lenses, I wish they made the lens hood out of a different material, as the plastic is prone to marks and scratches, unlike the rest of the lens. Coming in at 1.34 pounds, it easily beats other portrait lenses in weight. Handholding this lens is no issue all. Its filter size is very small at 62mm, and using a step-up filter for your existing filters should be a breeze.

What do you not understand?
Tamron makes Sp-G2 Canon mount lenses.
Do you drool when you eat, can you tie your own shoes? Are you able to find your way home from the Store?
What is your Problem?

I was thinking of buying a ring light or flash.
I am OCD and I have to research anything I buy.
When I say research, I mean, every youtube video ever made. Every printed article about it on the net. I am not kidding.
My conclusions were, they are junk. Watch the Angry Photoprapher's take on them.
Okay, now what?
I can't stand light reflections in the closeup macro shots I take. Drives me crazier than I already am.
Google is my friend, I googled macro lighting. Read every damn thing there.
I ended up buying 3 soft box lights and stands. One is a boom stand. I got them from Amazon for around 60 dollars.
They are not professinal grade, buy they work. I did buy different led bulbs, I got some 5,200 k ones. The ones that look like bubls, the curly ones have poisionious gases in them. I found that out trying to figure out the right bulbs to use.
What works for me, may not for you, but it something to think about.
For outside work, I use a Canon 580 EX flash with a diffuser.

I know what I own. You should do a little reasearch, before you show you have no clue.
There is a G2 35mm, a 45 I own that one and I own the 90 mm I am trying to sell.
There are more, and there are more coming.

You might want to re -think that.
I just copied this from the net.

The new Sp G2's have a bronzish/ silverish? color strip at the bottom of the lens.
the older Tamron's have a goldish stripe on the lens barrel.

I have a mint condition, Canon mount, Tamron G2 90 mm for sale.
I am asking $500.00, that includes shipping. And the paypal fee's. .
It is tack sharp. Google the reviews, it holds up against the Canon 100 mm L. Some reviews claim it is sharper.
The Tamron Vibration Control, VC, is outstanding and gives you a 3.5 stop advantage for hand held shots.
For some unknown reason[even to me] I think I have to have a 180 mm macro.
I am married and if I buy a 180 mm without selling this lens first...
My dear sweet wife, will kill me dead, no joke, I ain't kidding ya, graveyard dead
So somebody please save a life [mine] and buy this lens.
The shots I have included, are of the actually lens and some shots have taken with it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this ad.
