Geezer Bill,
Love that winter hot apple pie in Alpine.👍
Cheers

I know!! This is such a terrible place to live. Snow on the mountains, flowers in the dessert and waves in the ocean and you can see them all in one day. And the Padres got Manny Machado to top it off!!

I don't know. I realize that I live in Southern California, but it really does snow in the winter in our mountains which are less than 60 miles from the Hotel Del Coronado. This sounds like a much friendlier way to say slow down than the usual "Slow down you feakin AH!!

I have seen reflections in humming bird eyes but nothing like this. Can you get a shot of the whip and chair?

This is a great shot. I personally think that the exposure is good and looks very natural to me. If it were mine I might play with cropping it a bit, but that's just me.

I think that this is an excellent example of the work you do. To me, when you include more of your subject in such detail it catches my eye and leads to my taking extra time to study all the bumps and hairs.

Thanks Bill :)

Well Bill, those are not geese, perhaps that's why you cant find them.
If you are speaking of Image #5 They are Black Bellied whistling ducks. and they make an actual whistling sound, no kidding.

Image #1 are Ibis

Well live and learn! I couldn't find them in my bird book because they were not in there!

These are all very well done. I was wondering if you know what kind of geese those are because I can't find them in my Stokes guide. We have some exotic species of waterfowl here in Southern California, but nothing that looks like these.

nice documentation of a lovely spider and offspring, did the egg hatch?

Sorry napabob that I didn't notice your question about the Monarch egg. I did try to see it again but never was able to find it.

I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to make comments about my images. At my advanced age I really don't like to type things out, so as a group, I hope that you will understand my not recognizing each individual response. They are all appreciated!

Thank you Dook and English Brenda. The little guys are scattered and the milk weed is cut back for the winter.

I was checking our milk weed plants for Monarch eggs when I found a Green Lynx spider along with the egg I was looking for. I thought it might make a good conversation piece, spider guarding butterfly egg. This is the first image below. When checking the plant a few days later the spider was still in the same location, but dining on a hapless Honey Bee, image #2. I thought it might be preparing to lay eggs and after a few days I found it guarding a kind of rough egg cluster, image #3. In image #4 the cluster is taking a better shape. This was located at the top of a three foot or so milk weed stalk and living in So Cal the East Wind decided to interrupt my photo project. The next time I checked the adult was nowhere to be seen, but the cluster, or what was left of it, was covered with tiny spiders. I was able to jury rig a brace on the milk weed stalk so that I could get twenty or thirty images from which I chose #5. I hope some of you will enjoy them!

Just got done reading that piece and there is one tiny item I disagree with! We did have a Mixmaster to help in the kitchen with stirring things. We were warned as children to keep our hands away when the mixer was in use so we wouldn't get our fingers caught.
