I was checking our milk weed plants for Monarch eggs when I found a Green Lynx spider along with the egg I was looking for. I thought it might make a good conversation piece, spider guarding butterfly egg. This is the first image below. When checking the plant a few days later the spider was still in the same location, but dining on a hapless Honey Bee, image #2. I thought it might be preparing to lay eggs and after a few days I found it guarding a kind of rough egg cluster, image #3. In image #4 the cluster is taking a better shape. This was located at the top of a three foot or so milk weed stalk and living in So Cal the East Wind decided to interrupt my photo project. The next time I checked the adult was nowhere to be seen, but the cluster, or what was left of it, was covered with tiny spiders. I was able to jury rig a brace on the milk weed stalk so that I could get twenty or thirty images from which I chose #5. I hope some of you will enjoy them!

These are excellent shots, Bill--great detail.
That is a nice series and images, now you have lots of spiderlings to follow.
Thank you Dook and English Brenda. The little guys are scattered and the milk weed is cut back for the winter.

Nice set. Amazing camoflage on that species.
Great shots of a Lynx Spider!
I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to make comments about my images. At my advanced age I really don't like to type things out, so as a group, I hope that you will understand my not recognizing each individual response. They are all appreciated!
