The pictures of the pillows are fine for an Iphone camera but the two bottom pictures could have been good if taken with a good camera and then a little post processing. You have a good "eye" but your "camera" was not up to the task.

You will save a lot of money by going to either Sigma or Tamron. They both make fine lenses and are more reasonably priced

I have 2 suggestions. 1. Clearviewer is a small lens that screws into the tripod socket and gives an eye level viewer for a point and shoot. You can look it up on line www.clearviewer.com
very nice guy and he will answer your questions. Inexpensive around $60.
2. The best of the point and shoots s the Lumix L100. Uses M43 sensor and has excellent lens. Not a long telephoto but lens is Leica and very high quality.

Good Luck,

Your post makes absolutely no sense. I have used a mirrorless camera for the last 8 years. Before that, I used a DSLR. I find that the mirrorless camera is much faster than lugging around a large DSLR with large lenses. There is no reason for it take longer. I think that your problem is because you are carrying around the large brick camera, you feel entitled to go "first" and you resent the others who got there first.

Not on the subject of local camera stores but on the subject of wives. I used to always run my camera purchase by her for her approval. When my daughter got married, they wanted me to get involved in the wedding planning. I then saw how much women spend on clothes, shoes, and pocketbooks. When I buy a new lens, I will probably keep the lens for many years more than they will wear the article of clothing or use the purse. Same with my cameras, which I keep for a shorter time than lenses. I no longer feel guilty about my photography hobby and I do not resent what they buy. I work hard to support my family and photography is my total pleasure. Besides that, they all enjoy looking at the pictures. I am the family historian.

I do agree about supporting our local camera stores. I am often surprised when they either match or beat the on line camera stores.

Regards,

Hal

I have dealt with them for many years. When I bought a camera with a problem, they took it back immediately and gave me full credit. I have found B&H and Adorama to be gold standard. I read on some websites where people brag about buying 2 or 3 cameras and then only keeping their favorites. I think that there is a great deal of abuse of liberal return policies. In fact, my last camera purchase was a used Lumix GX8 in perfect condition. From the looks of it, it was barely used. I am going to purchase "used" cameras in the future.

If you desire a lightweight camera. You need to switch to mirrorless. I use a Panasonic GX8. The cameras and the lenses are much smaller.

As technology improves, sensor size becomes less and less important. Because of my physical condition, I had to start using smaller cameras and lenses. It was no longer fun for me to do photography. I did not like the IQ from point and shoot and bridge cameras. I started using M43 cameras and the IQ was acceptable. After having heart surgery, I have regained much of my strength and endurance. I am still using M43 and the IQ and high iso performance has got much better and is increasingly improving. I certainly do agree that the full frame cameras have much better high iso performance. I have no desire to carry larger cameras with much larger lenses. If I were young and strong, my answer could be different but as sensors get better and better the difference gets smaller.

My guess would be that most of your photography is done between 18 and 90mm. Why lug around a large zoom all the time, when you will very rarely be using it at the long end. I think you would be better served by buying a zoom from 18 -140 or 180.

If the camera has a tripod socket, you can use a Clearviewer. It is small, effective, and inexpensive. It will allow you to shoot at eye level with cameras that have no viewfinders. Go to www.Clearviewer.com. I think I paid $60 for mine. Very nice guy who makes them and you can email him and he will respond quickly.

A Lawyer, a rabbi, and a Hindu holy many have car trouble in W.Va and ask a farmer if he could put them up for the night. The farmer says that he only has room for 2 people and the other one would have to stay in the barn. The rabbi said, "my people spent 40 years wandering in the desert. So the least that I can do in their honor would be to stay in the barn". Within minutes, there was a knock on the door and the rabbi said, "I did not realize that there would be a pig in the barn. To my people, a pig is a dirty animal and I cannot sleep with the pig." The Hindu holy man said that he would sleep in the barn. Within minutes there was a knock on the door and when the farmer opened the door there was the Hindu holy man. He said, "I did not realize there would be a cow in the barn. A cow is a sacred animal to my people and I cannot sleep on sacred ground." Reluctantly, the lawyer said that he would go to the barn for the night. Within minutes, there was a knock on the door. When the farmer opened the door, there stood the pig and the cow.

On my cameras which do not have viewfinders, I have been very happy using a Clearviewer. It attaches in the tripod socket and is very small. Look it up at Clearviewer.com
