Thanks, for all the help!
I have a circular polarizer that just will not rotate properly, it is extremely tight. It's a quality brand and I hate to trash it. Do I dare try a lubricate? Any suggestions? Thanks!
I'm not from Nags Head, but close by in Manteo is The Lost Colony. As North Carolina's longest running outdoor drama, The Lost Colony Outdoor Drama on Roanoke Island, NC has been in production every summer since 1937...
Oregon Inlet, Nags Head, N.C. Sunset from last Monday (1/8) night. This was about 5 days after the very rare snow fall of about 5/6 inches and the extremely below normal temps. Frozen solid, it looked more like Alaska than North Carolina. This wont happen very often in our part of the country! It was a very remarkable experience.
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II is my go to in those type conditions, a little less than $2000, but well worth it.
Wow, very nice! You can see why that lens cost 5 big ones. You still had to use it properly...great job!
Thanks for the warm welcomes! I'm enjoying the photos and information.

What did you use to get the shot? Camera? Telescope? Settings?
Nice capture!
Canon 5d3 and a sigma 150/600 at about 575mm. F11 at 100 ISO, underexposed 2 steps. I also used a cardboard ($20) solar filter.
