Mike, I have to admit that you got a lot better shots there than I did. You are doing great!
Oh my goodness, what a shock to see this photo of Mike and me! This is an even bigger surprise than him recognizing me at my favorite birding place! It is amazing to me the close friendship I feel with many of you Hoggers and would also love to meet more of you in person. I not only thank you, Mike, for those kind words, I also thank you other fellow Hoggers for yours. This is a joyful experience to actually meet in person someone we feel we know from just viewing the photos you post. I thank all of you for brightening my day each morning!
You just made my day! Thank you for "taking me back" on Mount Timpanogas watching those cute little guys running around with a mouth full of foliage, hearing their chirping and seeing their little haystacks! It has been a long time since I actually saw and heard those cute little guys, so thanks for the memories.
Thanks Mike. I can see that it is getting about time to get up there again when the wildflowers peak! This is one of my favorite places. I'll not be hiking this year, but that's not necessary for wonderful views!
That is a great reflection! Not only are you a great adventurer, but you are a great photographer! Thank you for sharing your great photos with us.
On second thought, since I was in the hospital several days in the latter part of April, and not seeing "The Hog", I could have missed some of your posts. I hope not. What about parts 2 & 3?
I would not miss any of your postings. I love that country, but barely got to scratch the surface. Thank you for "taking" me there.
Thanks, Jim! Your photo tours have given me the closest thing short of actually getting to go through Cathedral Valley myself. I gave up on that hoped-for idea years ago, but I've certainly enjoyed the taste of it that you have given us.
I can't believe it! A year ago in February I actually saw this cabin before you did!!! But it is no surprise that your photos are oh so very much better than mine! I do enjoy your postings and look forward to the rest of your trip.
I have some of these that visit me every day. They love peanuts.
Having been born and raised in southern Utah (Utah's Dixie) I and thousands of others, are very distressed about this big push to wipe out the Dixie name. In the early days of settling this area during the 1860's (Civil War time), settlers were sent to what is now Southern Utah to raise cotton--which was done for a while. It had absolutely nothing to do with blacks and slavery!!! But the area has been called UTAH'S DIXIE ever since. (I was at least 12 years old before I ever saw a black person and he had just stepped off a Greyhound bus for a lunch break.) I proudly wear my DIXIE sweatshirt and highly resent these outsiders who come in here and would tell me it is racist! So Jederick, now you know why you see the Dixie name all over Southern Utah.
I was at Farmington Bay on Tuesday and very happy with the 12 bald eagles, many hawks, and other birds we saw!
I look forward to your travels. Thank you for sharing your trips with me.
I love all your postings because they give me the "travel experience " that I don't get to do in person any more. And WOW!, the places you take us to! They always make me think--as in this first photo. How did those people ever move those great stone monoliths?
