Up close and personal; different perspective of the Aspens in the San Juan Mountains. No, the second image is not crooked. It's how the fence was built on the side of a mountain.

Today's foliage. Since we didn't have good snow this year and little rain this summer, my thought going into this "leaf peeping" season was that it would be dull. Boy, was I wrong. This is one of the most vibrant seasons I can remember in the past 20 years. Who knew? Anyway for those considering venturing into the San Juan Mountains this year, this weekend is hitting it perfectly although it will be very good for the next 10 days. Neil

Wonderful captures of a very picturesque region. The granite in the Sierra is unlike anything I have experienced anywhere else and I am a confirmed "Mountain Man." For backpacking and intimate mountain landscapes, nothing (IMHO) matches the wonder of the Sierra. Great job and I cannot wait to see more.

I celebrated my retirement party last night with 100 of my best friends. Looking forward to pursuing my photographic passion and enjoying every minute. Best of luck to you and may "the image be with you."Neil

Great shots. And yes, this is a spectacular "out of the way" little known gem. You really have to know about it or sort of stumble onto or into it. Part of the area we refer to as the Four Corners region of the US.

11:34am, just finished watching. If I could, the 'person' that shot 399 would be staked out for bait. It's one thing to put meat on the table, killing because it's a famous animal, or just to kill is no reason to take to the field. If I ruffled any feathers, so be it.

100% with you. Yes, it was a great episode for 60 minutes. After this I watched an episode of Blue Planet. My mind is always blown as to the patience and "grit" it takes to capture the majesty of natures creatures.

Sometimes the light sets up perfectly. A little bit of Alpenglow this fall. Aspens are changing and this weekend should be peak. However, the weather is due for a change which will facilitate a rapid disintegration of the great colors as frost, wind and rain will have their effect.

I have lived in these mountains for a long time. This is the first I have heard about Aspens to Pines. But I have seen many Deer turn into Elk. Another good one are first time river rafters. “So, we end up back here when it is over.” And living in a ski resort, “ where do you put the moguls in the summertime? Beautiful Fall day in the Four Corners! Enjoy

Did this trip 2 years ago along with the Glacier Express from St Moritz to Zermatt. Highly recommend it. Thanks for the great pictures and fond memories. We were there at the same time of year. I was surprised at how green it was.

Nice shot. Was the smoke from western fires all gone. That has certainly been a problem out West this year.
