Locally known as the Wedge Overlook of the San Rafael River Canyon is relatively little known and offers spectacular photo opportunities.
This region of south central Utah is known as the San Rafael Swell and is approximately 2,000 square miles of BLM land worth exploring, especially considering how crowded Utah's National Parks have become so crowded. The attached photos were taken September 17, 2018. My wife and I were returning home from the previous weeks trip to Hanksville and the Burr Desert. A guide book to destinations in the San Rafael Swell is available at museums in Price, Green River, and Castle Dale, Utah and the book Store in Moab Utah. It can also be ordered from ed.helmick@gmail.com .
Great shots. And yes, this is a spectacular "out of the way" little known gem. You really have to know about it or sort of stumble onto or into it. Part of the area we refer to as the Four Corners region of the US.
All of these are great but the first is a knock-out. Wish I had known about this area before my Utah trip last spring. Looks like a "swell" spot.
Excellent! and a good tip.
