This article doesn't get into comparing optical quality of other cameras but does demonstrate that if you want a lens built for a lifetime, get the CANON.
thank you all for the information. Will be checking out a few of the new places (to me) that you all mentioned and will let you know how I do.

Has anyone birded Myakka? Usually when I get down to that area of Florida I hit Corkscrew swamp and Sanibel area. Looking for suggestions on best places and approach. There is a river that runs between two lakes and wondered if I should be on the water or if good access from land. Thanks for any tips.
Charleston is great but I wouldn't go there for the wild life. Bring a wide angle and capture the historic district. Lots of churches, restaurants, and some great old houses.
I usually carry two 32gb cards and one 64. Depends on location as to which card. A few days in the grand canyon went on the big card; Yosemite in a day went on a 32 gb. Carry a second camera 2 32 gb cards for it.
Love the four corners area and your commentary really helped bring the photos to life. Been there many times and Chaco is so full of the mystery you discussed. Fajada butte, the stone spiral, buildings constructed in accordance with the cycle of the moon. Thank you for the story!
Wonderful detail. Did a great job.
I'm a bit confused. The aperture, shutter speed, and ISO were all set. What changed to give you an exposure compensation of +3?
I purchased the g7 mark ll this past summer and yes I had many of the same concerns you mentioned. I have not missed the view finder, as a matter of fact, the tilt screen is really easy and convenient to use. As for settings, I shoot 95% in manual and am very satisfied. I use this camera for times with the grandkids and special events. It also keeps me from carrying and having to change lenses when out hiking. My primary is 7D mark ll with the 100-400 lens. I feel very comfortable using my G7 for scenic photos ops that may arise when hiking.
I like it! Thanks for sharing.
I have used: thelensdepot.com Pricing has consistently been the best and never had any issues.
Very nice. Hard to imagine that as you get more familiar with the camera the shots can improve.
Sharp and with great detail, well done.
