This photo shows the calm, appraising, side of a Pyrenees’ personality. Good job!

I lost my first Great Pyrenees last summer at 11 years old to bone cancer. We though we wouldn’t get another dog but the house seemed empty without him so we picked out a Pyrenees puppy. He’s almost a year old, 30” at the shoulder, and maturing into a fine dog. They’re independent and know their job, whether it be to protect a family, children, or livestock. :-)

The difference in speed of focus, low light capability, and detail in the images will surprise you. I was surprised by the improved image quality in in the D300 over the D200. When I upgraded to the D500 I was even more amazed by the improved image quality and substantially improved low light focus ability. Last summer I photo graphed a group in a cave, lit by a small campfire, hand held, with a D500 and an F/3.5-5.6 lens. If you can easily afford it, get a D500, I doubt you will regret anything other than waiting so long.

The peak color will vary some each year, but in the high country, it is almost always around September 21st. The color lasts longer and may be later by streams and rivers...

Nice shots, but they are rodents and carry verious diseases. Be careful.

I have a lever on my RRS Ball Head in my studio tripod and a screw clamp on my field tripod. My plates are Wimberly and RRS and both work well with each type of clamp. You can’t go wrong with either type. When carrying over my shoulder, I like having a camera strap or a lens strap around my hand although I’ve never needed it.

I feel your pain. I take my Nikon F, Ftn, and F2 our once a year, admire them and put them away. My LunaPro is in the camera case with the Nikons but the Weston Master II is elsewhere. I still have my stainless Steel tanks for film development, and two enlargers (with Schneider Componon lenses). I’m waiting for the Smithsonian to contact me to acquire this equipment for a display. ;-)

Seriously, the basic adjustment to digital is simple. ISO = ASA. Digital exposures are similar to exposing slide film. You can adjust for any color balance you want in Lightroom. Go forth and have fun! If you want to dig deeper, get Steve Perry’s books and watch his videos. He’s got a great sense of humor, is a good communicator and is correct on all subjects where he doesn’t disagree with my notions. ;-)

Dpi doesn't mean much - and easy to change back with almost any edit program.
Are you really suggesting that the OP reduce the number of pixels in the picture, say from 4500x3000 to 1500x1000?? I do that sometime, but, honestly, I don't expect anyone to steal my photos.

I reduce my images to 640x640 before posting on social media. (and they still get ripped off, but they don’t look too good when enlarged ;-).

If you post on facebook, you have given permission to copy and reproduce. As has been said by Just Fred, posting in low resolution is some protection. I've been doing this but recently had a person proudly show me how much he liked a photo I had taken and posted for sale on my 'secure' website. He took a screenshot of the low res image and had it on his cell phone. SIGH!

I use either a Sunsniper with a RRS clamp to attach to the base plate or a Magpul with a quick detach swivel that attachs to a RRS “L“ bracket.

This thread is going to get me to get out bed early tomorrow and head over to the Merritt Island refuge reserve and use my 200-500 with my Nikon D500

Well done! The subdued exposure and composition captures the feeling.

Don't be so hard on Bill Clinton. The poor man has been severely punished for what ever indiscretions and rapes he may have committed. Being married to Hillary is cruel and inhuman punishment that is something that no man, regardless of how heinous his crimes might have been, should be subjected to. ;-)

I’ve had mine for a year with no problems or complaints. It’s a great lens. I still use my 200-400 f/4 for low light but if I didn’t already own it, I’m not sure I’d buy it now.

Let me know when they bring back Pan X and I might bring my Simon Omega D2V out of storage. I’ve been holding on to it in case the Smithsonian wanted to display it. ;-)
