Hi, a few thought similar to many above.
1. when I took family sport pics I would get as close as possible, walk the area dont just sit in the stand hoping to get that great pic. Your 200 zoom is a great lens but can not get across the playing field from grandstand.
2. Rental? can you put a deposit down at a camera store, rent that lens for a weekend and find out how going from 2.8 to 6.3 changes or works for you. Also, many lenses when zoomed out do not offer the full aperture of the lens.
3. If you can afford both leses then keep them. there is only a 50mm overlap in coverage but a Huge difference in aperture[above #2]. It may also be rather heavy of bulky another reason to rent if possible, Hand holding a challenge??? for sports.
4. LUMINAR; you should look into this p.processing program. It is for Mac users but they have a bets version for others. It is not that expensive, much less than the lens, v.easy to use and a short learnign curve. Once you have a set of filters you use all the time you can even batch process an entire set of pics at once. Like an entire soccer game under similar lighting.
hope this helps. pb.

or may go back to state ownership. also mining, timber, mineral extractions would be eased or allowed. Fracking? Monument designation intends to keep the lands as close to natural as possible.

look up Camera Harnesses for Hiking. Amazon comes up w/many and other options as well. Pay attention to how they couple to your camera and that you can slide/lift it to your viewing position as well. Some are simple straps others have waist bands and shoulder harnesses. good luck.

I like working in Aperture mode. Call me old fashioned or a Dinosaur but I do MISS the "aperture needle" in my old F1 canon and other bodies. a change or speed or aperture showed what was happening, not to mention DOF viewer on many dslrs. So using Aperture to me is all about composition in the camera. The better the composition in the shot the easier or more flexible the PP can be.

Mac, thanks for all the details. I do have photos and when i import they are jpegs so that is why i worried. Photos is a different program w.o all bells and nice whistles Aperture had but Luminar does it better. I have all my materials on back up drives so will add them there for Original Saves. then go to Photos. again really appreciate your effort and information.

Mac: I am an Aperture user/holdout as well. I shoot in RAW and it lets me have them saved as such, edits keep the original RAW file. Like others I do have Luminar. My ?: if the photos go to Photos how do I maintain their RAW format or is it automatic. Will I/we lose the organizing of files-albums from over the years. New to Luminar, does it just PP or help w/organizing. thanks for your thoughts

I had an accident w/my old lens. I am researching a replacement lens and am asking for reviews or comments on differences +/- on tamron vs. sigma lenses. It is going on a Pentax K30 body. I do mostly landscape/outdoor photography. thanks for any ideas anyone may offer. paul

Dates for foliage have been changing sooo much over the last few years, moving closer to early sept. really. I would recommend being the "quiet side" of the island: Southwest Harbor just a short ride to loop road and Bar Harbor but has all the restaurants and lobster ponds you could enjoy.

thank you all for helping supporting. on the 3 sources: 1. I back up my laptop on one drive regularly. 2. After some angst I transferred all my photos to a separate h.drive then deleted from computer memory. 3. were my sd cards. I thought Just In Case But now, thank you again, know I need another source as back up. I am old school/dinosaur and worry about putting things in the cloud or off site sources. guess I have to get to new times. I will transfer directly to my photo drive and NOT download them to save RAW format.
