Sigma vs. Tamron 18-200 zoom
I had an accident w/my old lens. I am researching a replacement lens and am asking for reviews or comments on differences +/- on tamron vs. sigma lenses. It is going on a Pentax K30 body. I do mostly landscape/outdoor photography. thanks for any ideas anyone may offer. paul
What was the old lens?
Why not a direct replacement if you were happy with it?
Both manufacturers make excellent products. Before I transitioned to a full frame Nikon, I used mostly Sigma product and had great results.
I've tried both brands on my D7200 and went with Tamron. Sharper and I think it has better color rendition. If you could go to your camera store and try both, that would be my suggestion.
Good luck.
Like NJphotodoc above, I have used both brands also only on my Pentax K20D and K5. This was a few years back and they have both improved their lenses so I can't say about the newer lenses.
In the past I found that the Sigma was a touch sharper until the high number aperture settings were used. Then it was a toss up. It had less defraction than the Tamron had at the lower number aperture settings. Nothing really bad but if you looked in detail, it would show up.
