Thanks to all for looking at this piece on history. I had one of my first digital cameras and the quality is not that good she was still in the possession of the people that
removed her from the ice and restored in Middlesboro Kentucky , I remember one thing about the plane that made it hard to fly and that was that one prop turned CW and the other CCW.
I have lost where this plane is located . The link has lots of pictures Jim

In 1946, The Memphis Belle was sitting in a field in Oklahoma destined to be chopped up for scrap. A newspaper reporter learned of it's fate and informed Mayor Walter Chandler of Memphis Tennessee. He bought the plane and had it shipped to Memphis. But after
60 years sitting outdoors, local groups conceited they didn't have the funds or ability to restore the Belle.
In 2005, the U.S. Air Force had the plane shipped in pieces to its repair shop in Dayton. During the War, the Memphis Belle had 5 engine changes, had portions of it's tail splintered to pieces. Its body was riddled with hundreds of holes from flak damage.
Now after 13 years in the shop, the Memphis Belle has finally been completely restored
and is now on display at the USAF National Museum in Dayton Ohio. One of many B-17's that helped to free Europe from the grips of the Nazi war machine. Hoping you will enjoy these photos I took during my visit to see this historic aircraft. Oh, and Thanks for looking...! PS: Got to meet fellow Hedgehogger "PhilGPS" while here in Dayton. A wonderful knowledgeable gentleman, great fellow photographer and a pleasure to have met. Thanks Phil...

Hi Folks, when I heard this plane was here on display for 3 days, well I just couldn't sit on the couch at home. Drove out to the airport and got a few shots. Hope you don't mind my sharing a few of my images with you. I did climb through the aircraft, boy what a tight squeeze for this fat man. Then later that afternoon I got a shot of it landing after taking some lucky folks on a aerial flight over Nashville. There is some ghosting of people in some shots. With the harsh/bright lighting I was shooting dark in camera HDR's that I then fixed (brightened) in post processing. Enjoy my friends.

The pictures I am posting were taken when I was in Vietnam. I remember taking a lot of pictures but don't remember taking these exact shots. I think I had a Minolta camera back then and only took slides. I haven't looked at them in 50 years, main reason I didn't have a working projector or screen. I was talking to my brother and he was reproducing some old slides with a converter that he got cheep. He decided to get another one and sent it to me. Truthfully it was a piece of crap, images were less than tolerable. I decided to see what I could do with my DSLR and a makeshift light table. The last picture shows the set up. Slides were placed on a white translucent plexiglass and a speed light under it. Speed light was too strong even at its lowest setting so I placed toilet paper over the light. You are seeing the results. I'm not posting because of great pictures but I thought they might be interesting to some old vets that were over there.

BTW I was Army Engine repair and flew all over the country. After posting I noticed several could use a cleaner cropping, next time.

I worked in computer maintenance for 25 years as a manager, I am glad I retired before this nightmare came about. Workers had to meet their work loads and when something like
a big change caused more training and lost production. I have stuff that I don't want on my system and cannot remove. The last I checked this is a personal computer it doesn't belong

Today the French Chef Julia Child would of been 106. I was on assignment for Boston Today Magazine September 1978. These photographs were made in their home not the Channel 2 studio.

Photo 1 Julia's adding bread crumbs on the chicken chunks and mixed well all over then sautéed in a chafing dish while adding previous sautéed mushrooms to chicken with a dash of heavy cream chicken stock and tarragon.

Needs a little thickening she said, a blend of cornstarch and white wine will do it! A wonderful tasting lunch to prepare with a side of tomatoe, lettice, and cucumbers the freshest ever and cold too!

After all these years I still have not tried making this awesome dish. You can bet this will added to my dinner list. Julia placed the food on warm dishes from the oven.

It was quite an eventful experience eating in the Julia Child's kitchen sourounded by all those hanging copper pans and facing her large heavy black stove again filled and shelved all over with her loved kitchen tools and utensils.

Photo 3 Julia serving Paul, he's wearing his loved cameo ring that was mentioned in the movie "Julia and Julia" staring Meryl Streep. Of course I did not know this at the time of my assignment. I can see an important capture is made.

Photo 5 I asked Julia to stand at the fireplace with Paul and his glass of wine. Look at Julia looking at him. Also, Paul painted the painting above the fireplace.

This assignment was made September 1978 I was 30 yrs. Photo notes: Of course this is film, digital not available no auto cameras & auto focus lenses. Not 35mm either but Kodak 120mm TMAX 400 ASA roll film.

All photos made with HASSELBLAD 500c and 80 f2.8 mm, 50mm f4 w/a lenses. Two strobe set-up off camera with I designed. No studio lights with stands or assistance were used. I mounted a Matadore 400 200w/s strobe on a Hasselblad bracket with a compact Vivtar 283 strobe for flash fill w/ele eye.

Matadore 200 w/s was tilted straight up to bounce off ceiling and Vivitar was set to fill. I just walked around and snapped away! When Julia's husband Paul died, a friend called me to say she saw a short story in the NY TIMES, no story at all in the Boston newspapers!

I was touched by this news and sent Julia Child photo 3, Julia serving Paul. I printed a 8x10 mounted and framed with a two page letter. She wrote back! I was thrilled . . . that's another story. I'm impressed, a renowned personality chef wrote me. CIAO, AP

Hello everyone! I haven't posted for quite awhile. Bought a new LG refrigerator French twin doors lower freezer, 36" wide 21cu' my old one was 30" some minor carpentry work needed to enlarge the old opening for my new LG fridge to slide into opening.

Photo 2 shows my 9" store bought pie crust pierced all over and dribbled with olive oil and brushed all over as well. Photo 3 shows my zucchini pasta buried with chunks of feta cheese and topped with three heavy table spoons of sour cream mixed well into veggies.

Photo 4 shows 5 lg eggs that I pulsed in my blender and poured over veggies then added heavy seasoning: Herb De Provence, Mediterranean Spiced Sea Salt Mix, crushed Black Pepper, Oregano, mixed well and scoped into pie crust photo 5 and added chopped scullions with sprinkled Cheddar Jack all over.

Photo 5 pie plate was placed into my preheated 375º toaster oven for 30 minutes. Then heat was lowered to 250º for 20 minutes door not opened. Photo 6 shows Quiche done and rested on counter covered with foil overnight.

Had a lot left over after filling pie tin . . .
Next morning I had a slice cold, I couldn't believe how good it was. I know now it's very tasty hot or cold!

Just a shot point of view on my new LG refrigerator. It is very well illuminated bright as can be, and so is the freezer. Makes no noise at all while on. Auto set freezer -0º, deep pull out freezer and full pull out shelve on top, regular fridge 37º. CIAO, AP

I have a couple of bird feeders right outside of my screened patio. Every morning a bounty of beautiful birds come out to feed, which I want to shoot. The issue is my screen.

They will stay feeding and ‘allow’ me to shoot as long as I stay inside, but the pictures do not come out as crisp, and I believe it’s due to the screen. Any shot of the feeders outside my screen are perfect.

Can’t go outside as they will scatter...

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. I am shooting with a Pentax K-1 ll. AF.

Can you set the camera on a tripod outside and use a remote to take the pictures, just use a wide angle to catch all of the action?
