Well, the decision has been made. I am ordering a new Nikon DSLR today. I am reading the manual on my tablet as we speak, figuratively. Should be here Sunday. Just in time to go under the tree. A real tree.

So which one did you go with?....

Thanks everybody. I downloaded the Nikon program and will play around with it within the next few days. I'm also going to be looking into some editing software beyond the windows offering. I'll report back by Wed or Thur depending what falls on my plate over the next few days.... I'll also go back into these fine postings and see what I can use...

Thanks again...

I have a D7500... I recently went into the settings to set the camera up to shoot both JPG and Raw... at least so I thought. There were several options so I picked one to shoot both. I took some pics and loaded them into my computer (Windows 10). The JPGs came up fine, but my computer said it couldn't read the NEF files.

Could someone please help me use the right settings and/or how to get these files to work. Do I need a special program or am I selecting the wrong settings on the camera.

Thanks...

OH GREAT... another clown on the forum... Welcome aboard. This is a good place to get some help reigniting the flame of passionate photography. We implore you... please do not ask anyone here if generically, you should get a Nikon or a Canon... Beyond that, ask away and feel free to kich n a word or two whenever you're inclined to... At any rate, Welcome to the UHH Forum... (Nikon is better...)... just kidding...

I generally consider it a poor decision to profit off of someone's life mistake using photography like this. IMHO, there comes a point when crossing the line for profit is something like this is of poor taste. Having the right to do something does not always translate into making it the right thin

Now, that being said, if the photo is of someone who disrobes for the public on any kind of regular basis, then go for it. A Google search can answer that question (providing you have any idea of what you're looking for). In the long run, giving the availability of porn on stars, I doubt you would make very much on it anyway...

I got my best shot last night shooting at ISO 100 with the Sigma 150-200 lens set at f:8 (D7500). Shutter was on auto (around 125 I believe).... There will be another supermoon around New Years Eve... I imagine that emergency services are in for a busy night this year... I like to call Green cheese at 221,566 miles..... The other thing I meant to add is that it took some research and trial-and-error practicing to have gotten this far... Still working on it too...

My second camera is a D5200. It's a fairly decent camera. I wouldn't be concerned. I saw a big difference in many ways when I stepped up to the D7500, but still use the D5200 for some circumstances. Like the others said in other ways... There's still a hella lot of shots left in that young camera...

I would say it depends on the lens and the camera. Some folks here have used older lenses on their DSLRs. I have an older nikon lens that will work on my D5200, but not very well. more than likely, any automatic features such as focusing or aperture would have to be done manually....

Well, now, MB ... that's like comparing a matchstick to a Butane Charcoal Lighter ...

The Tamron 18-400 has no tripod collar, right?

So, it's DESIGNED to be handheld ...

Can't say the same for your Sigma 150-500, can you?

Just throwing in a little twist in that I don't use the Sigma as much as I used to.... Just saying...
