I can’t remember how to move the focal points on my Canon 80D. For the type of photography I do I prefer to use a single center focus point. I’d really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Hello Sally, I am a Nikon Guy myself, but I certainly hope you find the solution to your Canon 80D concern. That's what I enjoy about UHH, it always has someone to help or guide to to someone who will be helpful.

Hello my Hedgehog family. I'm a Nikon DSLR photographer and am looking for advise on a pocket sized Nikon or Canon camera.

Yes, many choices, buy the used 1st, then if satisfied buy the new one and sell the used one. Try KEH, I just bought my 85mm 1.8g Nikon lens from KEH, and I am very satisfied. Many other stores selling Used Photo Equipment, search the Web. Do NOT get Cheapest, Do NOT get the most Expensive, go for the MIDDLE.

Your camera 'pegs' the AUTO ISO to the 0-mark. You can't use Exposure Compensation to reposition the metering to the left or right of the 0-mark. This is an 'advanced' feature of newer and more advanced cameras than the D3300. You may be different, but I'd prefer AUTO ISO in the semi-auto modes where I can also apply EC to the camera's metering. Cameras that can support EC with AUTO ISO in Manual are the cat's meow. I think that's the everyone should shoot, but you need a camera that has that feature.

Thanks, did not even realize my D3300 cannot use Auto-ISO and EC,

Get familiar with Program, Apeture and / or Shutter priority.
Get familiar with your camera meter display in the viewfinder display. Use your EC to 'position' the meter slightly to the right of the 0-mark on the meter, try +2/3 as a start, this biases the camera's metering solution to a brighter overall exposure. Really, once you set the EC to +2/3, you can forget it. You just adjust the shutter speed and / or aperture in the other semi-auto explosures, letting the camera react with the ISO and / or other settings.

Yes, Thanks for this helpful info, I must practice more so I become a better Photographer, now with Smartphones being in our pockets almost all the time, my DSLR Photography has been on the back burner. My Wife and adult children keep telling me to SELL my DSLR Camera & Lens & extra equipment, but just not ready for that yet.

Hello Silverman,
Coincidentally, I was at Billmeier Camera in Fenton, MI today and saw that lens in their used section. Give them a call to confirm, you might be in luck!

Thanks, I bought a Nikon 85mm 1.8g from KEH online.

a couple of Train Photos shot in Lebanon, Ohio at their Depot.

Those are very Nice Images. I have been a Train/Railroad enthusiast since I was a kid back in Murrysville, Pa. from 1950-1969. We had a "Spur-Line" of the Pennslyvania Railroad that ran from Turtle Creek to Export Pa. Export was at an earlier time a Big Coal Producer.
I watched those short Trains come and return from my front yard in our Neighborhood named Marlee Acres. Sadly that Spur-Line was wrecked in the late 1970s or early 1980s, but it was eventually saved as a new "Rail-Trail", going between those same two Towns. That is the history of my Love of Trains. My Dad also set up our own Model Trains in our basement.

When you say "Cut & Paste", is that after or before you have downloaded images on your SD CARD to your Computer? I am confused by some of the explanations I am reading here on UHH.

I would think you always download the SD CARD image to your computer before any other action is accomplished.

Am I NOT UNDERSTANDING something here?

After your download to your Computer then I would put the card back in the camera and clear the SD card of all those images.

thanks for your input on understanding Auto ISO, although I meant to ask about AUTO ISO & MANUAL MODE, might you add this to your present explanation?

Also, I am not yet clear about EC requirement in the AUTO ISO & MANUAL MODE.

Thank you in advance for your Knowledge of the many aspects of Digital Photography.

In this scenario, might you share your thoughts on the Aperture & Shutter-Speed settings, those two items are fixed settings, then you add AUTO-ISO, I am still attempting to Grasp how & when to use this exposure setting.

Use manual ISO if at all possible. Set it at 100 and only move it up when you can't get the proper exposure using aperture and shutter speed. This is generally speaking but when shooting BIF or your location is changing lighting quickly and randomly auto ISO is absolutely necessary in my book.

Would I be wrong in thinking that auto iso might be best used in fast-action shooting, ex. moving cars, Planes, etc.?

As I understand "AUTO ISO", you can set limits on how high your ISO may go, depending on your own Image captured environment, so that you feel comfortable with the Image created by your settings. Yes, your Image may show a bit more graininess than you had hoped, but otherwise, the Image captured was acceptable to YOU.
I hope my thoughts to you are helpful and as accurate to this topic as you will accept, although there are many others here with much more knowledge on this subject and may provide you with better or more accurate advice & suggestions.
Please share with me any and all future advice you may receive on this subject, hoping you have good success in your Photography.
