I can’t remember how to move the focal points on my Canon 80D. For the type of photography I do I prefer to use a single center focus point. I’d really appreciate your help. Thank you!
See page 121 of your EOS 80D manual. That's got to be faster than posting a message board question and hoping someone will respond.
Okay the manual solved my problem. Thanks!

My solution is even simpler. I put the center point on the main subject (in my case a bird) press halfway to get focus lock then while holding the half press change the framing to the composition I want and finish the button press.
That way, I don't need to remember which camera I am using and how to move the focus point on that camera. I have 6 Canon, 1 Fuji, 1 Sony, 1 Panasonic and 1 Olympus of various ages and types from shirt pocket-size to full frame with battery pack. So there are several different ways to do almost everything.

My solution is even easier. Use back button focus and don't screw around with half push!!

Very important for those folks who have trouble controlling the shutter release button with their index finger.

Some of my cameras don't have back button focus. Some have it, but the buttons you can set are not in the same place, so my simple default is the half push and reframe.

Hello Sally, I am a Nikon Guy myself, but I certainly hope you find the solution to your Canon 80D concern. That's what I enjoy about UHH, it always has someone to help or guide to to someone who will be helpful.

Unfortunately, my experience with the manufacturers supplied manual is that the print is more often than not so small that it is barely readable. While it is possible to find a downloadable manual in a pdf format it takes time to filter through all of the search results to find exactly what one is looking for. Not much, but it does cause some delay.
I feel her post was appropriate because it was reaching out to members of a photography forum who probably have first hand experience dealing with the question asked. Plus, the manuals are not always clearly written and maybe the poster no longer has the manual.
I have observed that this forums membership encompasses a broad range of photographers from beginners to advanced professionals. Just telling someone who posits a question to read the manual to me is a way to dismiss and discourage those who may not have the level of knowledge that you have. Just saying.....
