Nice shots. Does Purdue have an extension up in Westville? Just where is this sculpture park at?

I was surprised because usually when a post in Hedgehog says dragons, it is shots of dragon flies. It was a nice surprise to see the color. Great shots.

Why do they prohibit cameras in enclosed venues? Smartphones are good enough if you’re near the stage but if you’re far out there you need a zoom lens. Your thoughts.

Dylan won't even allow cell phones. Ushers are under instructions if they see some one trying to get a shot with thier phone.

How was this created? Triple film exposure? Fabric, bubble wrap over a portrait.

Looks to me to be a passport or some other document that has had different stamps on it.

Drill the 1.5" then mark your 2.5 on the other side and use a wood gouge to chisel from the 2.5 mark down to the 1.5 hole.

I'm not sure what type of chain, but I remember he did the direct chain drive because he couldn't figure out how to make a clutch for it. Here is a video that shows it in action.

Did you ever hear of a motorcycle called the Bloody Mary? It was a drag bike built by a guy named E.J. Potter in the '60s with a Chevy V8 mounted sideways, with a direct chain drive. The back end was put up on a stand, the engine revved up, and the bike kicked off the stand, going in the 170s in the 8 second range. I saw it run at my local drag strip.

Did not see that one, I've seen some V8s but they were put inline not sideways. What kind of drive chain for that much power. Would a cam chain be heavier than a motorcycle drive chain?

Depends what I want, if I want depth of field, I go with a longer shutter so I can have a smaller aperture. If I'm shooting actions I want fast and don't care as much about depth of field. If I want to ensure sharp, I go higher shutter speed to make sure I freeze any movement of subject or camera.

AI is not our friend. Manipulating photos is nothing new, but AI has brought deceit to a new level. It's faster, and it's more convincing. Unfortunately, we've gotten to the point where we can't believe what we see or hear. Since I don't subscribe to NewScientist, I can't read the entire article, but you get the idea. If we can believe what we see and hear, we are going in a bad direction.

Deepfakes are out of control – is it too late to stop them?
AI-manipulated audio clips, images and videos have been used to harass people, scam money and influence elections, despite efforts to rein them in.

Academic research is increasingly anthropomorphising technology – a trend that could mislead the public about how powerful artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge developments really are.
Myra Cheng and her colleagues at Stanford University, California, analysed the content of more than 655,000 academic publications released between May 2007 and September 2023, along with the headlines of approximately 14,000 news articles citing some of those papers. They rated the extent to which each text used human pronouns such as “he” and “she” rather than “it”, as well…

Saw a post claiming to be a picture of a 60's super bike with an engine that looked like multiple v engines both next to each other and behind each other. I was reading every and all motorcycle magazines during that time period and a VW engined Munich Mammoth was the biggest thing out there.

Have a plan for an eclipse shot without a solar filter when it is at the peak. There are things going on you will want to shoot with just a normal set up camera like the sunlight hitting the ground through a tree when all the points of light become eclipses.

Look at how the middle class lives today compared to the fifties and sixties. You really wanna go back?

Yes we had the strongest middle class in the 1960’s. The unions were strong, a family could buy a house and send their kids to college on one persons income. A kid could pay for college by working a Summer job. 12% interest on a credit card was only for the worst credit risks. Bank CD’s paid over 5% on their deposits.
