Every day I have a ...wish I had my camera moment. Most recently I was out before the sun came up. The sky was turning red. I set up my tripod ...set the camera up. Was ready for the picture. Waiting for a passing car with lights on. Boom!! Clouds rolled in blocking out all the light before the car drove by.

If money is an issue I recommend refurb D5300. It takes same pics as the D7200 and has additional features such as tilt screen, gps, and wifi. It is significantly lighter and I much prefefer the info screen setting approach, which you can always see in the dark, over the scattered buttons and unreadable green screen of the D7xxx.

Actually I prefer it even if it cost the same or more.

I'd only recommend D7xxx if you have a bunch of non-AFS lenses or are really into multiple flashes and need the CLS. Note you can work a single iTTL flash off camera with the D5300.

7200 does have wifi...but I never use it. Basically the buffer is the reason I purchased the 7200. If you don't need the differences get the 7100 and a prime lens. I can really tell the difference with my 7200 and a prime on it.

I use to just swap the cards between Nikon cameras.. Then one day I learned my lesson. I once read (can't remember where) every time you remove your card reformat it when you put it back into the camera. Didn't do that until I pulled the camera out to use it. Card wouldn't format and was useless. Didn't have a backup card. D90 one card slot. Also do a reset on your camera when you turn it on. On my Nikons its pretty easy to reset them. Two button push. I learned the hard way on resetting the camera. I had played with a lot of settings trying to get a pic. Ended up getting what I wanted and didn't think anything about it. Few days later pulled out camera and did a few shots. None came out because of the settings I had left.

I have mine set to Auto and have tried several other settings and I run into the issue all the time. Add ins are the worst. My laptop resolution is 3200 x 1800 and sometimes I have to hook my laptop to my desktop monitor just to see what I am doing. This really isn't software issue it is more of an OS issue. Yes Windows can run some crazy resolutions but scaling isn't a strong point of the OS.

I have a Promaster for my D7200 and works great and haven't had any issues with it.

Most are not pros on this forum. Welcome to UHH

Very true!!!.... The great thing about this Photo forum over others I have used is most of the members really are good and have stumbled over the same questions as everyone else. I do appreciate how most will pitch in and help a new user. There are a few grumps but that is always so on a forum.

That is so great to see him. Most people would have gotten rid of him. It really is nice to see someone appreciate nature like you do.

I have thee small and love it. It does take a little to get use to. For me the best way to learn to use it was to just paint with. The tilt and pressure do take a bit to get use to. Programming the buttons is a must.

Just got an E=Mail from Nikon. Today only D7200 refurbished 799.00. My heart is racing.

To be honest when I purchased my 7200 I was really thinking if it was really worth getting over the D90. Both take excellent pictures. Both feel great in the had. In fact holding both side by side there really isn't that much different in them. So comparing them just by holding them is where I had a hard time..

When I first fired up the 7200 and put one of my lenses on it ..it seemed like I was holding my D90. That's where things changed for me. Wow..the 7200 is fast...fast as in focusing ...saving raw files. Its just fast in all ways. My lenses seemed "new" and had a different feel. They were snappy. Once I downloaded the raw files I really noticed that the 7200 captured more information and it could really be noticed in PS. Just more to work with.

Now going from a newer Nikon to a 7200 I can't say if it would be better. Yes it has some added features but would you use them. I still use my D90 and what the 7200 offers me is the same feel with a much needed upgrade.

Your D7000 won't waist away, I keep my 70-300 4.5-5.6 VR on mine, and my 18-200 VR ll on my new D7200. Used the 7200 more photographing our Christmas parade last Sunday, but still took some great shots with the 7000.
Never had to change lenses in the field.
Keep them both

I agree...I keep my D90 with one of my zoom lenses on it and my 7200 usually has a prime on it.

I have the 7200 and really I would have purchased the 7100 but...for me the buffer size of the 7200 fit my needs better. Other than that save the money and get the 7100.

I have been on forums of one kind of another ..since bulletin Boards or News Groups..etc. In my opinion it is the job of the Admins to monitor such attacks. They should warn the person who posted the attack and then kick them off the list if they do it again. Too many groups over the years have died because the admins just sat by and did nothing.

On my D-7200 sits my Sigma Art 35 mm. Love that lense.. Oh wait..I put on my Nikon 50mm...love that lens. Oh wait.. my 70-200 tamron..love that lense. I guess it really depends on what I am shooting. I keep the 35mm on the 7200 on my D90 stays the 70-200mm. I keep all my lenses in my backpack and switch them out depending on what I am doing. My favorite is the one on my camera when I push the button.
