Just to add - some gardners consider them mildly beneficial.
I will take good care of them and probably make a few macros as well. Been wanting to experiment with my SX50 and Raynox Macroscopic Lens attachment.

They are harmless, generally feeding on fungi and lichens that grow on wood. Rather pretty up close.
Thanks Mark, glad you caught me before I broke out the insecticide.

Psocoptera - Bark Lice, winged adults.
Thanks for your expertise. Their name answers my next question regarding whether they are distructive.
Thanks again for your help. I'll be mixing some Demon WP now.

Sorry it's not true macro but I needed to get advise from the entomology gurus. Can anyone identify this insect?

I've had both and never warmed up to the SX60. As a bridge camera with super zoom you can't go wrong with the SX50 unless you go with the Nikon P900 with a little better IQ and more Zoom.

And apparently friendly as well. One landed on my hand last night and spent about 5 minutes walking up my arm and around my shoulder and chest.

Thanks for everyones response. I wish I had taken the time to stabilize the camera and get closer but at my age, you don't think you have the time. I went out to feed my feral cat in the garage today and the little orange dude came flying in to visit. Guess he's doing well.

Saw this little guy on my driveway yesterday. He's just started spreading his wings. Since he no longer eats (does any damage to plants), I wish him the best.

In FastStone simply click on your file to open the picture and move the curser to the right margin. This will open a panel showing EXIT and access to the histogram as well as an area to comment on the jpg.
That's it.

I tried for 19 years to teach ballroom dancing..............many are called....few are chosen!

My wife and I have been ballroom dancing for about 3 decades and I can confidently say that I have never met a dancer that I didn't like. Unfortunately, the "Attic" indicates you can't say the same about photographers. Damn shame.

God, you Repubs are looney...shows by the result of this election too. I couldn't vote for someone like Trump but guess we have higher standards.

Under Obama the Dems went from having the house, senate and Presidency to losing all of those plus losing state representation that goes all the way back to 1922 for the parallel. The rigged DNC pushed through a candidate under FBI investigation when Bernie or Biden would have taken the election by storm. They did all of this with the mainstream media being nothing more than a political advertisement for Hillary. Now the liberals are sponsoring riots all over the country, just the start to a program to insure the failure of Trump as a President at the expense of the USA. The liberal schools have "safe zones" now for the tender little libs that can't deal with life. Supporting Black Lives Matter over the police force, importing thousands of poorly vetted Sirians at the risk of the inclusion of terrorists, a doubling of the national debt with absolutely nothing to show for it, I could go on and on and on. But Repubs are looney?
By the way, tell your rational neighbors thanks a million for putting PA in the red.

Looking to see if anyone has experience with the canon SX 50vs60? I'm thinking the 50 seems better than the 60. Anyone agree or disagree? Any words of wisdom? thanks! What about low light on either of them?

I've owned both and sold the 60. Go with the 50.

Would like you to do two things for this test:

1) Use RAW format for the SX50 and compare that to the P900. The P900 only supports JPEG. The SX50 does support both JPEG and RAW and I find that I get much better results using RAW.

2) Have the P900 deliver a shot using the same zoom as the SX50 as well as the max zoom.

I'll try to give it a try over the next few days but will the "store original" allow a raw file to be posted?

Snidely, the way it was written, yeah I would have to agree. My apologies, wasn't meant to be snidely. I was actually interested to see how much more zoom one gets, for the price difference?

Thanks for this post Michael. Between the two posts I put up, you should get the max optical and max digital zoom of each camera. My opinion is that unless you're standing the edge of a drop off, you could easily over come the difference with a few steps forward. That being said the IQ is what I really wanted to demonstrate.
