When I was there, I casually said “He’s made it all the way…” and the rest of the tourists crowded the railing to try to see a climber on top…
cgondolf Is there a reason the foam is shorter on one of the legs?
Just curious…If you have the money in hand, confirmed, why do you care where the item is shipped?
Imagine an unlimited debate about every potential gun control law. Then, after everyone shares every idea, ask yourself the question: Would any law imaginable prevent an evil person from entering a soft target like a school and killing people?

Unfortunately this ignores the actual problem in our country/culture by only addressing one of a myriad symptoms. “Soft targets” exist everywhere in our country from schools to grocery stores, public gatherings, etc.
John,
I’m a simple guy and was hoping to just address the terrible, recurring issue of school shootings. There are millions of examples of soft targets. Ukraine is an example of one that wasn’t as soft as it looked. If it projected an image of strength, Putin probably wouldn’t have waltzed into it like it was a grade school. Cheers. Out.
Ted Cruz gave an interview describing how he proposed multiple Bills to provide grants to harden schools to control access. He says Democrats filibustered his attempts. I don’t know and don’t have references. What would be wrong with assuming bad people would favor soft targets and wouldn’t get the same satisfaction if there was more initial risk? Or maybe logic doesn’t have anything to do with this and we should just circle the wagons and see what happens. Laws haven’t stopped the carnage.
Thanks, Linda,
I read through these and wonder if, even approved and enacted, these laws would stop those with evil intent from attacking soft targets. I cannot imagine “common sense” laws will ever cause these folks to ponder them and change course. I do think that if it was a certainty that shooters in schools would die in the process or be stopped from becoming famous, that might have an impact.
Does anyone here have the text of the Bills passed by the House but not the Senate?
We have thousands of laws that were passed as “common sense” responses relative to stopping violence. Killers will find a way to kill, whether they use a firearm, knife, baseball bat, brick, their hands or something else. Killers are, by definition, law breakers. Why does it make sense for politicians to stand proudly in a photo op and promise to solve the “problem” with another law and expect us to elect them? There will never be enough laws to prevent a killer from killing. And if the supposed solution is to ban firearms, good luck. As unpleasant as it is to accept, with human nature and mental defects as they are, the best approach to protecting soft targets might just be to protect soft targets. Advertising schools to be gun free zones defines them as soft targets and that just makes them a magnet for a person who wants to leave a legacy through unlimited violence.
I will never forget a picture I saw of an Israeli teacher outside a grade school classroom with kids during recess. She had an AK47 slung over her shoulder. If we harden up our schools, we would make them less attractive as soft targets. Laws don’t stop these shooters, do they?
[quote=suntouched]I am going to coast side of Costa Rica on March 1 (Tamarindo) for a wedding.
Do you fly into Aeropuerto Tomas Guardia or the little airport next to Tamarindo? If the former, you will get a feel for whether you will want to stay local in Tamarindo or spend time driving.
We took a two week tour all around Costa Rica in 2017 and used the little MePHOTO tripod that I bought from you. It was perfect and just the right size for travel. I took my SX50HS instead of the 5DSR for convenience and would do it again.
There are a lot of “Costa Rica Field Guides” of Birds, Flowers, Mammals and others that you will find in stores there.
There’s lots to do but relaxing and enjoying being alive can work too! We sure had a great time.
Thanks GEngel! I will give it a try. Things have just been hectic.
Thanks, Rich M
Will get back to it tomorrow morning!
Thanks, David. I will look at that directory. Can you tell on the computer when the upgrade was made?
Thanks again.
