Nice! One of my favorite backyard visitors!
Thanks for viewing. One of my favorites since I was a youngster.
Taken in my back yard using my Canon 6D, Tamron 150-600mm lens, tripod plus a flash extender. Processed with Topaz Adjust AI and Topaz Studio 2.
I took a class in biology while in college. My professor was the worlds authority on oysters at that time. He said, "If you knew all that I know about oysters, you would never eat one alive or dead."

While hunting near Three Rivers, Texas many years ago, came across a Blue Indigo snake. Its head was as large as about 8 inches across. Its body was a larger diameter and the length was approximately 8-10 ft. It watched me and I watched him until he slowly crawled away. I was not going to mess with him.
I have a copy of an old web site (no longer available) that says they do not recommend the use of Vivitar 283 on modern Canon cameras. I do not use mine. Buy a modern flash.
Older units have been reported as high as 600V!
Recent (post-'87) revised 283's ("Made in China") are safer with modern cameras, running around 9-10V. Bob Atkins reports some as low as 5V. Recently units marked "Made in Korea" have also appeared... measured at 8v by Andrew Cassino and Tony Bonanno.
Kevin Omura used a Quantum battery and got a hefty 261.4V out of his (sn3012330), while
Göran Samuelsson had two units with different voltages: 230V and 190V. Other reports have had similar variety, up to270V.
Thanks for all the great comments.
