Jay Pat Loc: Round Rock, Texas, USA

This guy showed up in outside temperatures around 100 degrees.
Dropped his head into the small pond out in front of the blind and left it under water for several moments.
Then raised the head to the surface and appeared to drink.
The quail were half grown and kept their distance.
For those of you that are familiar with Santa Clara Photography Ranch, Santa Clara is about 30 miles away.
The photography guide is Ruth Hoyt and she guides at both ranches.

Guess the birds knew they were safe. Or maybe the snake felt like he was surrounded and needed to get away.

Great images Jay Pat
Ruth Hoyt, would she be from St.Louis? if so we were members of the St.Louis Camera Club a few years back. A great photographer and a lovely lady.

Pat, fantastic series and for those who do not know, Indigo Snakes are snake eaters. One of the reasons the Quail were not in harms way.
