I do a good amount of hiking and I had the idea that it would be nice to carry two FF camera bodies, a selection of glass and a tripod. I did one big hike (which was spectacular) carrying all my gear, food and water only to have the stream be dry and fog roll in. Now I just carry less stuff with a light weight hiking setup. For the last few years, this bag was just a storage unit. It's time to move on. Smoke-free and pet-free home. It's a little dusty, but works just like new. For shipping, I'm sure the box will weight 9 pounds. If you can get to Richmond, Virginia, a local pick-up would be fine.

Thanks for the kind words! The fireworks needed to clear some trees so the traditional wide angle shot didn't look good. These shots were a very happy compromise!
A few of my favorites from last night.
Here's some technical notes if you are into that sort of thing.
Nikon 750
85mm or 120mm focal length
f/8
iso 640
1.6 seconds
At first I tried timing the shutter with the first boom. That worked just fine, but halfway through the session, I used a internal intervalometer. I could then enjoy the show without much thinking.

Thanks for the link! I just ordered one!
I'm looking for a MB-D14 that is next to new and cheap as dirt. It's for my Infrared D600. I'd like to get a 8 hour startrail session, but with a single in camera battery, 5 plus hours is the max.

Very neat! People use glossy black ceramic, but maybe this can be a bit better.
Oh! I'll have to look for a piece of ceramic. Thanks for the tip.

I don’t quite understand your setup (that’s my fault), sure like the result. Very nicely done!
I hand held the camera because at 1/64 power, the quoted flash duration is 1/250000!

I like it. Great Idea to get a better reflection. How did you light the scene to get the black background?
I set the two off camera flashes to 1/64 power, had them just out of frame and a iso of 100.
This 1/4 inch shell was in our seed starter mix. I liked the idea of getting a reflection so my first try was on a mirror. The issue is the front, back and silver all produce a reflection. This morning, I used a pot top which worked much better.

Very good. I’ve tried a bit but have not been able to be successful. Generally , Too much light in the sky!
You should definitely give it another try. According to
www.lightpollution.info, my yard has a Bortle class 6. Your profile town is a class 5 (darker). Try to keep the street lights from shining on the lens and you should be fine.
Back in 2014, I took some night time pictures of the Richmond Science Museum. There was nothing special about them, but when I looked closer at the sky, I could see a few stars. I was super excited and started to read up on astrophotography. I dreamed about making one of those spinning stars photos and maybe some of a deep space object. These days, the star trails are easy to do, but I have a long way to go for the deep space stuff, but it's something I dream of.
