This 1/4 inch shell was in our seed starter mix. I liked the idea of getting a reflection so my first try was on a mirror. The issue is the front, back and silver all produce a reflection. This morning, I used a pot top which worked much better.

I like it. Great Idea to get a better reflection. How did you light the scene to get the black background?

I set the two off camera flashes to 1/64 power, had them just out of frame and a iso of 100.

What do you mean by a “pot top”? Like a saucepan lid?

I hand held the camera because at 1/64 power, the quoted flash duration is 1/250000!

Very neat! People use glossy black ceramic, but maybe this can be a bit better.
