and you know this how? I'm assuming you are making an assumption since you don't live in Florida...

Correct. I live in Illinois.....and I wasn't talking about casinos....could care less about them. My comment regards taxation , especially sales tax. The american public is under the assumption they are ruled by the "law making" elites who have conned the public into "hiring" (voted) elites to rule the rest of the nation. Sales and any taxes are designed to keep YOU in check and dis allow YOU to live your life as YOU see fit by taking money out of YOUR pocket. In simpler terms: elected elites feel and continuously tell YOU they know how to live YOUR life better than YOU do!....I hope you stop and digest this.....Do you really know where all of the tax revenue goes? Do you really know how it is used? How many projects are you told you need because someone else wants it? or How someone else wants to take care of someone else who is down on their luck and can't feed themselves? Do you really think you should be funding a safety net for some one else? Especially a safety net created by an elite designed to take money from you that you earned for you? I call that theft....Additionally if your income tax bracket is 25%, you do understand that you 40 hour workweek means you work one day plus 2 hours before the money you earn can be called yours? Do you really like receiving a paycheck that says you worked forty hours but you only got paid for thirty?

Every tribe should operate casinos since they provide jobs and a source of income to the Indians themselves. Seminole Tribe in Florida has a monopoly on Casino's in Florida but they have a 'Cost Share' program with the state, But that's not w/out some perks for the Tribe such as a total monopoly on board gaming in the state, lobbying and politics. The parimutuel racetracks, which began offering banked card games in June, will be banned from offering such games....all politics and money, the same as the new tax law, its all about revenue for the states.

Actually, it isn't about revenue for the states......it is about revenue for elites.....

It doesn't really matter much personally to me - I live in a state that has no sales tax. I earn my income in another state and pay income tax there, which I am much more comfortable with. And of course, I NEVER make big ticket purchases there if possible. I come home to New Hampshire and buy it there instead, or buy it over the web where I don't (and won't have to in the future) pay it.

As various state governments learn the windfall to be realized....those states that don't already do so, will begin to collect sales taxes. Enjoy your freedom while you can!

just ordered a lens from B&H and I didn't pay sales tax I don't know how it will work out in the future but I do pay state sales tax on my Amazon orders --which is a lot easier on my purse than paying city and state tax when I purchase from my local retailer --at my local retailer I pay 9.50 % which I think is outrageous-- I prefer shopping out of town which has a cheaper sales tax

No Doubt....Here in Normal local sales tax is 8.75%....nothing Normal about that!

I doubt that you're computer as it sits today could either collect or distribute the sales tax. A program needs to be written to do this. I doubt this program will be free. But more importantly, how do you distribute the money per zip code? I don't care how fast you think your computer is, this is going to be a nightmare. The US Government uses huge mainframe computers to keep tabs on individual income taxes. What makes you believe that collecting and distributing sales taxes can be relegated to a desktop computer or even a bank of desktop computers?
I doubt that you're computer as it sits today coul... (show quote)

How else does the well intentioned pol skim off the top?

If the other states do it like California, all the sales tax goes to the state, which then submits the portion which is local tax to those jurisdictions.

since it is Interstate Commerce....I believe this thread has established Federal Jurisdiction. Let the Feds collect 10% Sales Tax. They keep 75% of the 10% and distribute to the states the remaining 25% of the 10%. If I understand correctly that is how money is doled out for highways....Feds pay 75 % States pays 25 %.....but wait a minute, if the solution is simple, how will the corrupt politicians skimm off the top?

And how do you propose that the collected monies be distributed? Can you imagine the cost involved with distributing the collected money to each zip code? This is not as simple as you would have us believe IMHO.

Exactly.....What does this mean for drop shippers? I sell through SmugMug. They collect the sales tax and pay Illinois. Presently, Illinois does not require purchasers outside of Illinois to pay sales tax. I believe. Perhaps governmental bodies should be mandated to devise a uniform sales tax code?

This will do a little more than just help level the playing field.
Apart from the amount of the tax itself, I can see this being an accounting nightmare!!
Imagine the bookkeeping involved in collecting 50 different tax rates and returning that to those states? What about other countries??
The tax plus the manpower!!! We’ll see an immediate 10% rise in internet prices.

At least 10%. I am in favor of removing exemptions from laws and retiring Supreme Court Justices, or any governmental employee at the mandatory retirement age imposed upon the rest of the nation....then maybe those who make these rulings will feel the pinch of their rulings as does the rest of the population

If you are able, shoot props at 1/125 or 1/160....you will avoid propsicles. Jets....shoot as fast as light will allow.....I like 1/2000 at a minimum.....shoot the lowest ISO possible, but again that depends upon the light....don't be afraid to adjust....the light will change as the day advances.....attempt to plan for the sun and how it will cross the sky....this will determine whether your aircraft shots are highlighted or backlit....a lot to think about, but it is fun....don't forget to enjoy the show, peek out from behind the viewfinder once in a while.....and if you saw it in the viewfinder, you missed it....Have Fun
