Went out with Coastal Expeditions last Sunday looking for the elusive Long-billed Curlews that stop by on their migration. We managed to see two of them after a few hours of searching. Along the way we ran into some rare Whimbrels and a host of other shorebirds including Dowachers, Oystercatchers, Pelican, Double-crested Cormorants, Willets and a few only some of the 35 or so birders on board could identify. Here are a few of the shots. The Wimbrels and Long-billed Corlews were long distance since we didn't want t stress them out as they rested for the long migration. Hope you enjoy them!

Thank you! Lucky you the one I posted was flitting around in the bushes and I was afraid I'd never get a good shot. But then he rested for a few seconds out in the open!

Excellent and very beautiful set, Robert! We also have a little ruby-crowned kinglet wintering with us and it is so very tame! This morning as I was filling the feeder it stayed within three or four feet of me.
Hi all, thanks for the kind words on my pictures. Carolina Chickadee and Carolina Wren are next to each other in my database of bird names and I was a little sloppy in my selection. Sorry about that. Both are cute birds! ;o)

I like your Oystercatcher! I got a Black Oystercatcher in Alaska a few years ago. The only one I've ever seen.

The male restart is black with red or orange markings, sort of like a Baltimore oriole. This is the female.

Super series and variety, although I don't know why a bird that has yellow on it is called a REDstart.
