I have been a fan of Topaz products for many years. I currently use a combination of their DeNoise, Sharpen, and Photo AI products. Like several other folks here, I mostly use Photo AI but occasionally go back to DeNoise or Sharpen depending on what I need to correct. I just used Photo AI pretty heavily on my Christmas photos as they were taken in very low light with little kids moving pretty fast! It did a fabulous job, very happy with it and worth every cent. Get the free trial and kick the tires.....it's really amazing software.

Thank you for your comments. How was Iceland? Probably will not get there since I am 85.

Iceland was a "bucket list" trip for me and it was just stunning. I'll try to post a few pics here....all taken with the Z50 and the 18-140mm lens....

Jack, I haven't owned the Canon but did have the Lumix FZ1000 a few years ago and loved it - great little camera that took excellent photographs. One other thing you *might* want to consider. I recently purchased a Nikon Z50 with Nikon's 18-140mm lens took it to Iceland. The Z50 is an extremely lightweight cropped sensor and the 18-140 lens wasn't heavy to handle. I was very, very happy with the photos it took and the weight. Even carrying it all day, including some pretty strenuous hiking, it never bothered me. As a side note, I'm 66 and have had 10 surgeries on my hands, fingers, and wrists due to arthritis. This setup was never too heavy for me. I know it wasn't one of the cameras you mentioned, but just wanted to throw that out there for consideration.

Paul (CHG_CANON) is spot on. The tutorials from the guys he mentioned are very good, easy to understand, and give you information in "digestible chunks" vs. opening up the fire hose. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of videos and tutorials to help you in your learning curve. My suggestion would be to dive into Lightroom first - learn how the asset management system works first so you can start off with a neat and tidy catalog. Then start learning how to perform simple edits, using their presets, etc. THEN dive into Adobe. Good luck!

Will the Z50 and 18-140 lens fit in your pocket ??

Not with the 18-140 lens. If you attach the 16-50 then it might if you have a larger
Pocket, like a coat pocket. It’s not much bigger than a point and shoot.

So sorry to hear about your health challenges - good luck! Since you're a Nikon shooter, I wouldn't waste time learning how to use the menu system, buttons, etc. of other brands. I'd recommend sticking with Nikon. I have a Z50 with the 16-50mm and 50-250mm kit lenses which I took all over Iceland and I couldn't be happier with the photographs! Great little camera, lightweight, mirrorless, has good reach, and won't break the bank. I also purchased the Z 18-140mm lens as a general 'walk around' lens when I don't want to change lenses and it's also excellent. I will try to post a couple of photos here.....

Nice work! I've used it a couple of times to fill in a sky with buildings to try to straighten my verticals and it has worked very well.

I was all over Iceland in July of this year and found that I didn't need gloves. The weather was in the 50's most days and in the low 40's at night, so nothing too drastic. Having said that, I did take gloves "just in case". I got them a few years ago at B&H - they have a little padding on the palms and the fingertips of the thumbs and index fingers would flip off and on as needed.

I use one primary external drive for my photos and back that one up to another external drive. I also back those up to the cloud using BackBlaze. As several folks here have mentioned, you spend a LOT of money - plus your time - on photo equipment, processing, etc. I use Carbon Copy Cloner to automatically backup my primary drive to my backup drive every single morning. BackBlaze backs up both drives to the cloud every morning.

Lots of great suggestions here, but if you want to go mirrorless, I purchased the Nikon Z50 cropped camera with the two kit lenses, then purchased the 18-140mm to go with those. I took the Z50 all over Iceland with only the 18-140mm and the photos were awesome. Very, very lightweight and honestly I never missed a shot. Like you, I can't tote around the heavy gear bags anymore. The Z50 is an excellent little camera.

I will be visiting Italy (Rome, Siena, Florence, and Cinque Terre) October 3 - 18, 2023. I have a Nikon D7500 and the following Nikkor lenses: 18-300 1:3.5-6.3; 18-70 1:3.5-4.5; 70-300 1:4-5.6; 10-20 1:4.5-5.6; and 35mm 1:1.8.
I have room for only two lenses; one on the body and one extra. What combination would you recommend?

I agree with Longshadow. I had a D7500 a few years ago and almost never took the 18-300mm off of it. I'd take that one and the 35mm. That covers pretty much anything and everything you could point the camera at.

Love the image you generated! I agree with the statements made, AI is another tool we will use to generate / greatly modify photography. And we're already using it in Photoshop, Luminar, etc. May I ask what software / app you used to generated your image? I'd like to give it a try myself....
