I would think about a used 18-140. Paired with a D3100, my wife got a pleasing assortment from flowers on up. She did move to a Tamron 18-400 for more range to accommodate wildlife, but dollar wise the 18-140 works well and won't break the bank.
Just read my mind. I think for this camera, one walk around would do me well.
Thanks
[quote=Drbobcameraguy]Since you have the 18-55mm in other mounts maybe try a 55-300mm.[/quote
Hmm, don’t have any thing that long
Thank you.
I do have a Canon 50 1.8
A friend gave me a Nikon DX 3100 camera, battery and charger, but no lens. It appears to be in excellent condition, but I don’t know for sure since I don’t have a lens.
I have Sony EMount and Canon EFS equipment.
I just want to have some fun with it, and obviously at this point don’t want to spend too much.
How are the kit 18-55 mm lenses? They can be bought at KEH reasonably cheap.
On the other hand I do have 18-55’s for both the Sony and Canon, 24 mp bodies.
Those of you that have Canon FD lenses attached to Sony mirror less, what ones do you like or have? I have the 2.8 28 mm, and 135 mm SC, 3.5.
You do realize every time you pay by check the recipient sees that info
I am not recommending anything, but want just to remind all to compare apples to apples and PCs to PCs. I have both, though I use my IMac the most.
Corel ProPaint, forgot the actual name only works on Windows.
ON 1 works on both and you do get multiple licenses.
Adobe, LR and and Photoshop ($9.99/ month) is on both machines and IPad. I use ICloud to share back an forth.
Study painting. Study History of Art and Art Appreciation. Notice how much does not represent the actual view as perceived by the human eye, but the human mind.
Perhaps journalistic and street photography should depict the actual scene as it existed.
But if you believe photography is an art form, why limit the artist’s creativity?
The final product will be the answer. It is admired it is not.
Had fun reading all the responses.

Open letter to democrats!
All you supporters of the left wingers, I hope you think if these Antifa rioters ever get their way and have the socialist minded candidates elected that all the burning, looting and killing will stop. Well I’ve got news for you, not only will it continue, it will become a cancer that will destroy the entire nation. They will not stop with forcing reparation from the conservatives only and be satisfied, I hope you think that you’ll be spared by hanging a sign out stating your alliance, or maybe you can paint a donkey over the doorway of your business or home and expect a Passover. Oh no, they will steal and burn you out too, no matter your party affiliation, especially if you are the wrong color. I hate being the bearer of bad news, I am 75 years old and hoped that I would never see the day, but if the liberals get elected, this will not stop, and there will be blood shed on the streets of America as never seen before.
Please opine.....[/quote
Really drinking the Kool Aid aren’t you. Try doing some reading of your own old man .

Did you know that at one time the Democrats were seriously considering John Glenn as a VP candidate? He was passed over as a candidate because his wife stuttered.
Seems like just another dose of political hypocrisy. Business as usual.
That was not the main reason he was passed over as I recall. Study your history and read about HIS lack luster ability to energize crowds.Carter offered it to Mondale.
Glenn’s wife was not ecstatic about him being VP, though later reversed her feelings when he considered a presidential run.
He was a great senator and a great American.
Watched it yesterday.
Incredible, such bravery exhibited by him.
Whatever you decide to choose, test it out first on all your computers, if yo have more than one.
I have had difficulties with some programs loading slowly or actually crashing. I don’t have the latest and greatest computer. My IMac is two years old and only has 8 meg memory. My mistake when purchased.
My desktop PC is old but still works well for many applications and some programs from Corel. But others don’t do as well.
Good luck.
