I shoot 90% of my images in A Priority. I set ISO to a fixed value, depending on the situation. The main reason is to control DOF, it's almost manual with the camera setting the shutter speed only. It works for me, but whatever works for you is the way you should shoot.

I always bracket my photos, when the histogram shows that there isn't enough dynamic range I'll run the images through Photomatix. One thing I don't like are the gaudy results that come from the scene modes, I only use the realistic modes as I'm only interested in expanding DR. Also HDR works well for moving water, It creates a compromise between the "frozen" (fast shutter) or "milky" (long exposure) look of a single photo.

Past performance is no indication of future results. If we got (hypothetically) 250 last Thur and 250 the Thur before, you cannot presume or predict the next delivery will be this Thur or that it will be 250 whenever it arrives.

You are quite right, my assumption is that Nikon will keep there present production schedule, unless there is a supply problem, and will ship the 850s when they fill an air cargo container. This should keep up a steady stream (drip) of cameras. It might be helpful for UHHs if the resent 850 owners could post their serial numbers, this would give an idea of how many actual bodies are getting into the hands of our members.

So you ordered in August(?) and received it when?

Ordered it on August 24 at 6:30. Got it on October 20th. Serial #4275, I think B&H was closed for over a week just before they shipped it, so it might have been sitting at Nikon.

I ordered mine the moment I got the preorder E-mail from B&H, got it in the 2nd wave. It looks like that was about 7,500 or so. I would expect that each shipment in Nikon's rollout would be about the same.

I use the Wimberley 200. I bought it before MT started selling the Nest, If I had to do it over I would consider his gimbal. As for the lack of scale marks on the Wimberley I use a slash of white out to mark the setup for each lens, it's hard and even stays put in the rain. Also, I got a bubble level at Harbor freight for $1.95 and glued it over the screw that Wimberley says to NEVER touch unless the gimbal wears out, that won't happen in my lifetime.

So far mine is living up to the hype. I love it.

D850 is a major upgrade from my D800e. 4k video, great ISO range, improved AF and plenty of speed. As soon as B&H sent me the pre-order e-mail I jumped on it. I waited 3 weeks when the D800e was released and they were so backordered by then that it took months to get.

There isn't a whole lot of difference between a 135 and 90, but the longer lens will give you greater working distance. Being further away can eliminate shadows and you get less DOF. A shorter macro is useful for small objects, like jewelry, where you don't want to be across the room to get it all in.

Nikon remotes with an Fn button will focus the camera if BBF is enabled by assigning BBF to the Fn button. On an 800, and perhaps others, there is a separate menu item for remote Fn, which lets you use the on camera button for something else.

I've been using it for a few days and I'm impressed. I had to purchase it as I had a version 4 license, worth every penny!

Check the battery contact in the body. The one in my F2 cracked and caused the same kind of problem. On the bright side it gave me the excuse I needed to buy an F5.

Most of the time I use "Balanced" it comes the closest to what my eye sees and seems like a good place to start. My idea of how HDR should be used is to extend the range of the sensor, not to create an unrealistic image.
