I haven't posted in a while life has been too crazy but I would like some honest Critique please. Im an ammateur in every sense of the word but I am shooting in RAW and Using the manual settings this was taken with natural light using a 35mm lens f/ 2.2 1/60sec ISO 160 I have other shots but because of the rules i can only post one and so i will start with this one one i guess lol.
Thanks ahead of time for looking and your comments.

Mr Harder you are by far my favorite landscape/scenery photographer on this forum.... I absolutely LOVE the way you see things and use different filters to focus my eyes on different things your work is awe inspiring to me. My only wish is that one day I can take a picture 1/16 the quality of your shots. PLEASE keep sharing :)Btw my favorites are 18,14,12,10,6,and the one that left me absolutely speechless #3!

Okay I really liked this setting and I really wanted to "save" the photo but didn't know how till i learned about tonemapping so i tried it. My questions are did it save the photo? Did I over do it? Should i just give up on this photo and wait just for another opportunity?

first hdr attempt (BLAH boring)

first tonemapping attempt ( I think its better)

The top picture Nails it (looks like a look I get very regularly from my little ones) ... I disagree with the second one showing attitude though (I'm sure he has one) he just looks more sleepy to me. However they are beautiful kids and wonderful shots!

Unfortunately I don't have the comic filter but I was able to do this to the picture. I do realize that many view this as just a gimmick and not a true depiction of a good picture but it was interesting to me to play around with.

My goodness. I am not trying to influence you on whether or not to throw it out. I do think it can make a nice background, but the main point is I have thousand of photographs I do not consider to be good technically or visually let alone be amazing. I have no intention of throwing them out because of what they mean to me. You should do the same. This Section is for honest, constructive critique which I have attempted to give. Certainly, much of critique is opinion and I am far from being right all or even most of the time. I hope you take my critique in the spirit it was intended. :)

Ok im going to start peppering my answers with emoticons  I love and welcome honest constructive critique. :D Im just very unsure of my photos at this time as I am so new, so I'm always afraid I'm posting Junk thinking its much better then what it actually is. When i say thank you for looking and trying to help me I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Anyone who takes the time to look and try and help me with whatever topic i happen to be working on has my deepest gratitude as I know you could just pass over and move on to a much better photo. The only way I can get better is through this process. Thank you to all. :-P
